I'm looking for something smaller that the JBL Eon 15 w/horn [not intended for close listening] I like that it has it's own volume control but I'm playing in Restaurants just need something to please me. Just looking of a couple of brands to investigate. I know there are many. Sound quality is more important and size. I not looking for some amazing nano cube thing. It's gotta sound like there is an acoustic bass in the room.

You have a PA and need a monitor? In ears are the only way.

On a large venue I use a Roland Cube, on smaller venues I just place my speakers a little behind me on stage and I can hear those quite well.

Hope this helps,

What Danny said. Place your mains a bit behind you and tilt them inwards. As long as you don't have them pointed directly at your mic pattern, you shouldn't have any FB problems.

Regards,

Bob

Can I refer you to J. Larry’s post (#366738) over at the « seeking recommendations for external speakers to make my laptop playback louder » thread.

I use something similar (an Alesis Transactive 50) and am very happy with it.

The key point is that these units can be mounted on standard (straight) mic stands which means you can place them with great precision.

Ron,

If you happen to drive up I-25 regularly, come see me at Westone in Colorado Springs - you can try out our universal fit in-ear monitors during your visit. Send me a PM first so that I can see if I'm planning to be in the office.

BTW - our universal fit products are now in the Sweetwater catalog and available on-line.

End of commercial, back to your regularly scheduled forum browsing!

We also use a Roland Cube (cm-30). For small venues we use a Roland Micro Cube. It doesn't have as many inputs as the cm-30 though.
