When I try to reinstall Presonous AudioBox 44VSL on my computer I get a popup that says Windows is trying to install trayap. It never does install but you cannot get rid of this except going to task manager. I have a new Dell XPS 8500. How do I get rid of this annoying pop up? Thanks occ

Oc make sure to ask your question on the presonus forums and their tech support. Forums were a godsend to me with my presonus firebox. I should have used them sooner.

From what I've read, it's related to HP printer software: Quote:
TrayApp is a software application that is installed with software that is needed for HP printer products used with a computer system. The software that is installed is called HP Photosmart Digital Imaging software, which is used to scan as well as print documents and photos. When any part of the program is removed or corrupted in the registry, a Windows Installer box can appear at start-up.

Um, I think "trayap" is a generic term for anybody's app that installs to the tray...
In the case of the OP, I too would recommend taking this up on the Presonus Forum or with Presonus Support.

I think Bob is right. I bought an HP printer and downloaded the software and then decided to return it. I tried to uninstall it from the control panel. but could not uninstall all of it. Since then the trayap apeared every time I turn the computer off and then turned it back on. It also appeared when I tried to install Presonus software. How do I get rid of trayap. Thanks for all the comments. occ

I've never had the problem so I can't say "here's how I did it", but if you google "remove hp trayapp" you'll get lots of sites.

Go into the registry, look under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE and HKEY CURRENT USER and locate
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS
CURRENT VERSION
RUN
and remove it from both or either place you find it. That won't remove it from your computer but it will keep it from launching at startup.
Then you can search the windows explorer for *trayapp*.* and that will locate every instance of "trayapp" on your computer, and you can just delete them. If it ain't there, it can't run, right?
