I am a newbie to the PG software and need some coaching. How do I create a melody track using soloist' in RB similar to the one in BiB? Any help would be truely appreciated.

I don't think the soloist feature works in RB like it does in BiaB (not sure, never use it)
You could try a realtrack that is a solo style. Generate a realtrack and look for the solo instruments in the list. There is guitar, sax, fiddle, etc
or take the file back into BiaB to generate a midi solo.
Save it as a mid file from RB and open in BiaB. Use soloist feature, and then generate the 'solo' as a wav file and bring back into the RB seq file by using 'import audio' or bring the solo midi track in using 'load scrap'.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

The question is are you referring to a Real Track soloist or a midi soloist? When you say "create a melody track" I get the impression you're referring to the midi soloist in Band in a Box. If so, then Rharv is right, RB does not have that function and you have to create it first in Biab, save it then open in RB. The Biab midi soloist can use any midi instrument you want and you can edit the notes after the solo or melody has been generated because it's midi. The Real Tracks on the other hand are prerecorded audio files of specific instruments. Neither the instrument or the notes can be edited except for the usual audio editing stuff like cutting, pasting, effects etc. Always keep in mind "midi is not audio". It's easy to get confused by that when you're in the middle of creating a song.

Thanks for the guidance. It is really helpful. What I am trying to do is use a MIDI melody track in RB to generate my accompanyment, then retain the MIDI track melody as a decent sounding instrument. So...
Based on the advice you guys are giving me, sounds like this might do what I want...
1. Load the melody MIDI track into RB.
2. Generate the deisred accompanyment tracks
3. Assign a VST plug-in to the original MIDI melody track to get a decent sounding melody. Also may want to convert to WAV for post processing.
Does this sound right?

Its a good way to start. You should make sure you bring the chords into RB too.
I think you can copy/paste them from Biab to RB. There's a checkbox in the copy/paste for including the chords.
I might actually copy/paste the whole thing, making sure the tempos matched at some point.
