Hi Im using the piano roll editor to put the trumpet from the melody to channel 8 on the soloist track, im then playing the trombone into the melody track and this is in tune with the trumpet when i port it over to channel 9 in the soloist track it goes out of tune with every thing(that is backing tracks and the trumpet track)
any way of correcting this i have not had any luck so far, this is something new i have not noticed this problem before, any ideas please i have not done any recording since before the last update as i`ve been messing around with the realtrack when i load a tune i have made the volume controls are set at nought even though the sound is playing ok but if you touch one of the controls the channel you have touched goes silent and you have to bring up the sound level and sometimes the bass and the guitar(banjo) go really loud and if you just touch the controls it goes back to normal

How much out of tune. What key is your song in? For example if it's in F and you play trombone in Bb you need to transpose right? Either you play the trombone in G and leave the score in F, or if you have played in F you'd need the 'score' in Eb. NoN?

Not sure this will help, but I find that I have to watch the key signatures very carefully. If the song is in C, the other instruments will have to match. Like my trumpet is in Bb so I have to add 2 sharps and go up 2 intervals. For the flute things are fine. I think the trombone is in C like the flute. If you load up a tune that has an embedded melody already there, you can't just change the key of the biab song--at least that's what I found. You have to make the key of the other instruments match the key of the song via transposition. Of course you can change everything, if it's a midi file in PowerTracks or Real Band. Not sure if you wanted to hear all of this, but.....

He's talking midi, Flash. I had a weird problem during one of the beta tests maybe 2 years ago with midi tracks going out of tune. Somewhere during that time the problem mysteriously disappeared. Try the old "return to factory settings" Dave, or even a reinstall and make sure you have the latest updates. Try rendering the midi track to audio and see if it's still out. If that doesn't do it, time for a blast to tech support.

Very strange as just for that one day every thing i did was just enough out of tune to notice and the volumes where set to nought every time i loaded a new tune, next day it had righted it self with out me doing anything, maybe its not the computer it maybe my ears, with all these radio waves and differant waves that are in the ether who know what the effect is,
thanks for your time and your anwsers, i keep have strange little problems happern and then vanish i think tech is moving on to quick for me and i can`t keep up, as i only do it for fun now it does not really matter,i have never had any problems in the past but just lately it keeps happerning so it has to be me sad is`t it

Don't be too hard on yourself, Dave. Just my own personal observation but it seems that the PG programs have a few more of these strange things than other programs do. Not enough to be obviously bad or anything, it's just that I don't see this kind of thing with other apps. When I had that problem I even posted it here because I wanted people to know it was real and not my ears going out of tune. The song was Body and Soul and the melody was right in the cracks like a third of a step out or something like that. Very sick sounding. I was switching between the VSC and Forte and it was the same for both and only on the melody track. Everything else was fine. Very weird. We are swimming in cosmic rays every second and it's entirely possible that one charged particle or stray magnetic field can hit your cpu or other part of your system and cause some random glitch. As I said, whatever it was it suddenly cleared itself up never to be heard from again.

About a third of a step?
More likely caused by playing a file that changed the samplerate from 44.1 to 48KHz and then it didn't get changed back automatically before opening BIAB.
Reboot the machine, usually sets it back.
Cosmic rays notwithstanding...

No Mac, we had that discussion already at the time. It was only one track out of that file. All the other tracks were fine. if the whole song was out of tune, you could be right but that wasn't the case here. With all the posting you do, I don't expect you to remember it now but your comment after hearing it was that melody was definitely desifinado and you had no clue what could have caused it. Actually, now that I'm writing this I think I may have emailed it to you personally rather than posting it here on the forum. Remember Body and Soul using the Miles style with a sick sounding trumpet melody? It was bad enough to put your teeth on edge.

Sorry to say I don't remember at the moment, Bob.
I do remember certain Soundfonts that were out of tune as built...
And a few Trumpet soundfonts where the maker intentionally made them Bb instead of C. Dunno why someone would do that.

If the Wx-5 is anything like the WX-7 there are some weird key combos that can accidentally transpose your instrument. I have had that happen several times on live gigs.
#1. Keep your keys off the buttons unless you a re playing.
#2. Turn the power off and on to reset the WX ..

Hello Dave,
Perhaps you should look in the event list for the Melody and Soloist tracks and see if there is anything strange there like a pitch bend that doesn't get reset. Also, if either of these tracks are set to multi-channel, they could contain volume controllers that are affecting the other accompaniment tracks.

Hi Andrew
I always have the Multi channel on in the soloist so that the different tracks play the right instrument like Trumpet and Trombone,
what i have just done is to input a piano rag with the melody(right hand) on the melody channel and the left hand on the soloist channel played by them self they sound fine but play them together they sound a little out of tune just enough to notice but i will check what you have suggested and check the event list
i have just checked and all i could find is that both the melody and soloist where playing on number 1 channel do you think this could be the problem
i have now put the soloist track on to track 8 and it seems better, this is something i have never understood the thru channel is surpossed to be channel 5 but it has never been it always seem to be channel 1,i can understand when i use the WX5 this is set to channel 1 as i don`t ever touch this but i would have thought that inputting the notes with the computer keyboard it would have used the default channels melody 4 and soloist 8 never does,is this something i don`t know or i`m not doing it right thanks for reading this
regards Dave Hoskins

Hello Dave,
When you are playing live, the notes are played on channel 5 (which you can see if you look at the MIDI monitor). If the Melody and Soloist tracks are set to single-channel, then all notes on the melody track are played on channel 4 (no matter what channel they are on), and all notes on the Soloist track are played on channel 8. Assuming you have not changed the default channels in Opt.-Pref-Channels. When they are set to multi-channel, the channel 4 and 8 settings are irrelevant.
Are your left and right hand using the same patch? What is your MIDI playback device?
