will we someday be able to Create our own MIDI SuperTracks?
Not that there's anything wrong with cash cows

Mike,

Being there would be patents and licensing involved,
this will open up a whole new world.
Maybe additional profits for PG.
Also breath "live" life back into some existing Keyboard manufacturers.

Memory is cheap, just listen to me..LOL.

NAW, memory in keyboards and modules.

In addition to its step-entry, the Stylemaker has had the capacity to import or record MIDI patterns from MIDI controllers for 15 years or more. So it will already make all the "super" tracks you can stand. PGMusic have supplied factory drum patterns made that way for several years now, and they swing.

Since very few users have ever got far into the Stylemaker in the past, not much spontaneous Do It Yourself is likely to break out now. It's an interface that takes days and weeks to learn. Most hate fooling with it.

Exactly, you could have done it all along. A better question is what makes a Supertrack Super? It's the player recording it. We're talking some of the best studio cats in the world. If you're one of them then sure you should be able to create a Supertrack. In other words it's the performer not simply technology that creates a Supertrack. I have no idea what's going on under the hood of Biab concerning rearranging Real Tracks and now Supertracks. I'm assuming they made some changes to the old engine but they're never said a word about that.

I think there is a LOT more to the new MIDI Su;pertracks than just recording MIDI and chopping it up for the Stylemaker.

Because I've been doing that for years, and so has PGMusic. And the SuperTracks are MUCH more expressive.

I have a feeling that the SuperTracks MIDI recordings are handled much like the RealTracks are handled when it comes to phrase selection, etc.

And Peter himself mentioned during the beta test that the SuperTracks do not do the Ye Olde Map to C7 thang that the Stylemaker requires for just rolling a MIDI part.

I think it is a great new direction for BIAB and adding greater flexibility overall for the program. The RealTracks have been a fantastic addition but there's plenty of life in MIDI and obviously editing MIDI-produced tracks is much more straightforward. With high quality sound modules, MIDI keyboards or even higher quality VST instruments now available I am sure they will compete and sit alsongside RealTracks very well. I am also sure they require a huge amount of skiled programming and expert playing to produce.

Good points and that's sort of been my thinking ever since real tracks have come out and I was new to all of this sound stuff. There are still a lot of folks who highly value midi. IMO

I do love the Real Tracks, but I have some wonderful sounding synths - Komplete 8 - Spectrasonics stuff.
And it's great to be able to do precise edits.

The super tracks was a no-brainer.
I've bought a number of Norton's midi styles, and they're great,
but I had been waiting for PG to come out with more midi styles.

Now, how about a Style Picker option to see "ONLY midi styles"
or "ONLY Real Track's" or "Everything"

When the RealTracks were first introduced to the beta testers, quite a few of us remarked on the way one or two RealTracks added to the old MIDI style files created a situation that was more than the sum of the two -- the old MIDI styles seemed to be sounding MUCH more realistic with the addition of a RealTrack or two and RealDrums.

With the advent of these MIDI SuperTracks, I am now finding it difficult to pinpoint which tracks are MIDI and which are Real from just the listening in a lot of instances.

Good Thing,

It's already there in the filter screen.

Note also that it indicates the naming convention for the first letter of the style name:

Underline (_) for styles with only RealTracks
Equals (=) for styles that contain at least one RealDrum or RealTrack

Thanks John for educating me.
I had seen the "Filter" button, but I thought it was just to confirm the little 'text box' to the left of it.
