I think the word, "engine" there refers to the Stylemaker. "Patterns" mapped to
C7 being the clue.
My take on the MIDI Supertracks is that they are recorded performances just like the RealTracks, the only difference being that they are recorded as MIDI and not Audio. But the basic underlying routines used for the RealTracks are very likely being used for the MIDI Supertracks.
