They may kill this post because it is completely not about music, but we have a great cross section of people here from every part of the world, every age, different income levels, different walks of life.....

It is often asked as a sociological question "What superpower would you like to have?"

I am going to take that in another direction.

I will decide that the superpower is the ability to see accurately and exactly into the future. The question is if you could choose between seeing 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months or 1 year into the future, which would you choose?

Would you want to know that in one year you will die, and have to decide if you are going to spend that year mending fences or tearing them down? Would you like to have 364 days to worry about what is going to happen on that 365th day? Would you like to know if your significant other will be leaving you at some point during that year? That someone close to you may die?

I know my position is that I prefer that every day be a gift and a surprise. I think it would ruin the spontaneity of life to know even a minute in advance what is coming next. But that's just my perspective.

That is the way I think also. I don’t want to know what will happen in the future.

Eddie, such a book or road-map, a GPS, does exist. It's prophecies have been flawless for centuries past. Why should we doubt the few yet to be fulfilled? This book foretold the fall of Babylon over 200 years in advance, even naming the conqueror, Cyrus, the Mead, and exactly how it would be accomplished We are encouraged by this book's accuracy in foretelling events which should instill confidence in what it has to say about the future. What book of prophecies can you name that has been 100% accurate?

Naming that book would surly get us banned sadly enough but I would love to continue via personal email.

Don, I am familiar in concept with what you are saying but a book that was written centuries before I was born can't know what will happen to be specifically. I will buy that given the cyclic nature of history that the future can somewhat be predicted. The USA became involved with a way at almost predictable intervals, which some allege was an economic plan. The war machine creates jobs for soldiers and industries supporting soldiers and when the economy started to sag, the country went to war. WWII to Korea, Korea to Vietnam, Vietnam to the Gulf....

Imagine being a soldier with that power. If you know you are going to be killed tomorrow, how likely are you to go into that battle knowing how it ends? That leads to a bigger issue of how someone might be able to change history if they know the future.

Ditto!

But I think there is a song somewhere in your question Eddie.

Wouldn't want that power.

The Book gives me enough to know how to act today. And it also says that I can't know THE future event in specifics but to be ready TODAY. When people tell you they know the specifics, that's when they've gone off the rails.

I have a special super power that allows me to know what happened in the past. It works best for things that are closer in time to the present.

The late Jimmy Stewart once remarked that, in his old age, he found that he spent a lot of time thinking about the hereafter.

He said that he would enter a room, stand there for a minute with a dumb look on his face and then say, "W-w-what did I come hereafter?"

Don, you can hide your own easter-eggs, see a new view out of your window every day and you can even hide your own easter-eggs!

OT: I definitely don't want to see into the future. That would mean that I can't make a difference no matter what I do.

I just want most of my hearing back. Balance would be nice too. Then my old voice. And my wife to retire.

But that is getting BACk cfom the past, John. This is about knowing the future.

You make a good example of the thread. Did your hearing loss start due to normal aging or was there an event that caused it? If so, had you known, you could have avoided that event.

I want to know one thing ahead of time. I want to know if anybody attends my funeral and what they are saying.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
