There are a lot of acoustic guitar Real Tracks now, but has anyone found a good preset with Amplitube to enhance the acoustic sound? I've had a skim through a lot of the presets but they all seem to be geared towards the electric guitar.

If there isn't a preset with Amplitube, does anyone use a different plugin for acoustic tracks?

Hi Pete, I've noticed no one has replied to your post.....and I probably wont be helping when I tell you....I drag & drop my RealTracks into Sonar 8.5! In there I've found VINTAGE 64 Plug-ins.....many of them helpful. I've used the Acoustic Guitar preset....with just 'a touch' of extra reverb, and that can give me a sound that I like. But I just use my ears! Maybe if you re-post.....change the heading to "Advice on Amplitube" or something, I'm sure the guys will help. Pat Marr & others are experts!
Like you, I've never been able to use Amplitube for any live guitar tracks, electric or acoustic! But then, that's my fault! Regards, Joe G.

I'd not try to use Amplitube on an Acoustic Guitar Realtrack, except perhaps very occasionally as a nonstandard Effect.

Try exporting the single AC Guitar track to RealBand or your favorite DAW software, make a copy clone of the track and then try timeshifting the copy a few ticks down the timeline for a doubling effect. Experiment with differing amounts of the time slide, for you can get everything from Chorusing through Flanging that way.

The EQ plugins can be used to change the sound of the AC Guitar track very effectively by adjusting different amounts of High, Mid and/or Low Frequency boost or cut. Use it like a Tone Control.

Sometimes a wee bit of Audio Compression can help certain types of AC Guitar tracks, all depends on the mix it is sitting in, and your ears and taste, of course.

Phaser, Chorus, even Flanger plugins may be used to enhance AC Guitar tracks as well.

And don't overlook any Stereo Enhancer plugins, which may also bring out something clean but different.

Thanks for your help guys, there's some good tips there that I will try out. I actually use Cubase 64 bit as my DAW, but this evening I just found out that the Steinberg Virtual Guitarist 2 effect plugin has a couple of really good acoustic presets. I can't use VG2 with Cubase anymore (it doesn't sit well with the 64 bit) but at least I can still use the plugin in BiaB.

It's nice to get a good sound in BiaB before importing to Cubase, and I'll now see if the VG2 plugin still works in Cubase. I hadn't thought of trying it before, I just thought that VG2 didn't work anymore!

Sorry, should just let you know that I've only started working with BiaB in the last few days. I had some godd song ideas but I always struggled to get the arrangement working. BiaB is giving me some great ideas and I think it's pretty amazing.

here's a pretty good article for vocals that would probably work for guitar too,

Hi John,

What a brilliant article. I've never before experimented with the multiple channels in Reaper. That's an incredibly powerful aspect of the program! I'm off to learn a whole heap more about it now!

Thank you so much for posting this,
Noel

Bookmarked. Some pretty good stuff on that site. Will have to load Reaper up again soon, I guess.

Thanks for the link, John!

Mike
