I play keyboards, guitar and trumpet, at this stage of the game it doesn't really matter which one I use, the translation between them was once a problem, though. Time and that peculiar experience we call practice...
There is one more iteration, likely the most often used, dunno why I skipped it, it goes from the root to the dom 7th on top:
| E - E7/G# | A - Bbdim | B7 - Bb7 B7 |B7 etc.
Note that the only change is the E7 for the 2nd chord.
