On more than one occasion, I have lost all edits to a song by using CTRL+Z during the editing process. It will close the current song (without saving), and replace it with the previous song in the directory and there is no going back. As CTRL+Z is listed as a valid UNDO command, it's possible that I may have tried to use it twice (instead of once) which caused the condition, but at any rate, beware of using CTRL+Z.

I am using the latest release, but have had this happen on older versions as well.

I'll have to try that. Haven't had it happen.

Pressing Shift+Ctrl+Z should redo , making you go back to the version you worked on...

Every piece of software I've ever used has keyboard shortcuts. This is not something to beware of, it's something to learn how to use properly. Just open help and type in "keyboard shortcuts", there's a whole bunch of them.

It is not supposed to do that. But I've had it happen also. Opts->Return to Factory Settings cured it here. It is only supposed to undo the last single thing you did.

As a computer guy, I'm well aware of how to use keyboard shortcuts, I was reporting something that was not supposed to happen. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the vindication Mac, I'll try another edit and see if I can document the circumstances around the behaviour, then do the reset as you suggest and try it again.

Sometimes all it might take is a reboot of the computer.

Is it possible to back-up settings (in this sense) when all is well, so it's possible to go "restore factory settings > import backed up settings" when something goes wrong that you suspect 'restore factory settings' might sort out ?

Ian, in BIAB version 2009, there is Options, Save Preferences As. This would be a good thing to do right now.

And then, Options, Load Preferences to restore.

While BIAB is still workin properly, drag a copy of "intrface.bbw" to your desktop.

If you have to reset, simply drag a copy of that into the bb folder and say yes to replace the existing one.

Of course, if you have BB2009, check out the added stuff in the Return to Factory window, it now can do the above for you automatically.

Thanks, Matt and Mac. I'm still in 2008.5, but intrface.bbw will do me :\}

My apologies Pete, I was being a bit presumptuous there.

I wonder if someone can explain? Did I not understand the question? I mean, this redo is pretty simple way back i.m.o., why did nobody confirm that as a first step? Or am I mixing up things and is it in this way not an option? Because I had several times that I by accident used ctrl+z, since I am very used to that option and also got the whole song set back to the first setup, then after the redo I just am back to just before I pressed the ctrl+z. I really wonder. Maybe I need to get back my educationfee's... :S
