Howdy, folkses...

I would like to ask two questions, please.

When I play my MIDI piano (A Yamaha PSR-282, if you need that information), the instrument sound coming out of the piano keyboard display in BIAB is always a guitar. There used to be a piano sound, but I guess I did something wrong somewhere and messed that up! I'm good at that, ha-hah! Would anyone know what I should do to correct this?

Next and last thing is, where in the forums would I go to ask a question about something called "tritone substitutions"?

Thank you, peoples! For those of you who celebrate the Christmas holiday, I hope it is a peaceful and memorable one.

Sincerely,

bluage

P.S. Mr. Gannon, BIAB is getting so "smart" that soon it won't need humans to run it!

I would guess that would be in the Off Topic forum. However, first visit here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tritone_substitution

Then get out your instrument and play a ii/ V7 / I, for example, Dm / G7 / CM. Got that sound in your ear. OK, then play a ii / bII7 / I, such as Dm, Db7, CM. That is a tritone substitution. The dominate chord substituted with a dominate chord 3 full tones up. Also known as a flat 5 substituion (G7 to Db7).

Did I get that right guys?

If the song loaded into BiaB has the Thru part set to some guitar patch then that will be what gets loaded with that song.

There can also be a situation where that is only one song, but the Thru part does not have another Patch saved with it for the succeeding songs, so then it stays there.

If you find that particular songfile, you can change it to Piano using the dropdown slot and Save the song again so it won't do that. Or use Save Sang with Patches and Harmony to save it and check to see what is really selected on each Track first.

There are a few Global ways to always force the same Patch on one track such as the thru track as well.

Hello, "Mac"...

I have a tendency to imagine complex reasons for problems, but your information kept everything on a sincerely simple tip, and solved my problem, too.

Thank you very much! If you celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays, I hope they are peaceful and unforgettable.

"Jazzmandan"...

Your answer to my question addressed exactly what I wanted to know: which way is "up"? In other words, in which direction on the circle of fifths am I supposed to go to find the substitution?

It sounds simple enough, unless I've misunderstood you. Thank you, sir!

Hey, I lived in Chicago until 1999, up north around Belmont and Broadway. To get my jazz kicks I'd go downtown to Joel Segal's Jazz Showcase on Balbo between Wabash and Michigan, or to the Green Mill on the North Side. For the blues it was the Checkmate Lounge on 47th St. near Drexel or Cottage Grove on the South side, Buddy Guy's place downtown somewhere around Harrison and Wabash, I think it was, and Kingston Mines in the near North area, around Halstead and...Fullerton, or was it Armitage?

If you celebrate the holidays I hope they're full of "happy" blues!
