I have BIAB 2010.5 on a USB drive. I just recieved my 2013 on a USB drive. Can I copy my 2013 to the 2010 & it will over write & up date it automatically, or must I format the 2010 drive first.. I would like to make a copy in case something happened to the 2013, & I no longer need the 2010..

You should be able to copy over whatever is on the 2010 drive. You would not need to reformat it first, but you could if you wished. The only reason not to reformat first would be if that drive contained extras from bonus paks of the past. Of course, first back up any song files you have written that may be on the older drive. They will have extensions of .SGU and .MGU.
PG Music Support could also talk you through what you need to do.
As I recall, 2010 may be a version before the Elastique algorithm was introduced, and the size and number of the RealTracks was much larger then than now. But double-check first and make sure the old drive is a large enough capacity to hold what you bought for 2013.

Matt do you mean that 2010.5 had more real tracks than the 2013?? so that would mean I'd be losing Real Tracks.. I don't have any files on the 2010 drive..So I don't have any files to save..

No! Not more RealTracks, many hundreds fewer. But the method used for each RealTrack is improved, so one file replaces three. You will not lose any.

OH, OK, got it... This new 2013 will have my old head in a turmoil for a long time.. Still haven't explored or know what to do with the Super Midi tracks.. Yikes, too much, too fast..

You will really like 2013 after changing from 2010. Think of the SuperMIDI tracks as alternatives to RealTracks. Just experiment, and you'll see. Try the new styles that use them.

Not to hijack the thread...but this is at least partially on point. Do I uderstand correctly that:
A. Real Tracks are AUDIO (roughly the same as playing an MP3 file or music CD etc)and therefore, playback from the onboard sound card or any external audio player in use and therefore, the chosen MIDI playback...software synth...Coyote, Sample Tank etc. are not in use and:
B. Midi...including Super MIDI WOULD be played back via Forte....SuperTank or whatever MIDI OUT driver is in use?

Jim, yes. The quality of what you hear with MIDI, including SuperMIDI Tracks, varies greatly with what you choose as your synth to play those sounds. Audio works pretty well in most computers, even those with onboard RealTek cards.

So where do I verify that I in fact have Coyote for my Audio, & Forte for Midi.. I went to Options & chose Coyote Forte Dxi for Midi, but don't see a place to use Coyote for audio.

Coyote (neither version) has nothing to do with audio.

Why yes! When you get version 2013, you also get the free version of SampleTank with some sounds collected for BIAB. I have Coyote Forte, which I have always thought was fine, but I like the SampleTank sounds better. If the supplied sample sounds are not enough, you can buy different packs for $20 each. Search the other threads here for much more info on SampleTank.
I should also mention, for the last ten years or so, I've used hardware MIDI synth units by Roland. I'm just a beginner with software synths, and there are many here who are far more qualified to make recommendations about them.
