I want to export my BIAB tracks, including both realtracks and midi, to Sonar X1 (64 bit), and I'm running into some troubles that I hope someone can help with. (I suspect there is a simple solution to this, but I've run into several deadends looking for it.)
***If this is FAQ, please simply reference where I can read up on this. A quick search of the PG FAQs didn't reveal any information.
My first and most important question is how do I get each individual track from BIAB to Sonar? I had thought that the [Drop] button would do this, but my M-Audio ASIO driver complains when I try to open both BIAB and Sonar at the same time.
Further, as I understand it, the [Drop] button only works with MIDI files when using a softsynth and not midi hardware, like the SD2. True?
I greatly appreciate any help you may offer and thank you for your time and trouble.
Bob

Set the program that you use for recording to use ASIO drivers. Set BB to use MME drivers. Then drag' 'n drop should work.
Drag and Drop the MIDI tracks into Sonar as well, then assign your Ketron to play back each track along with any audio.
Continue recording and mixing.
When done, each MIDI track must be turned into an Audio track by Soloing it and then recording each track from front to end to an Audio track.
Then Mute all MIDI tracks and mix using Audio mixer.
Direct Rendering will not work with a Hardware Synth, only DXi/VSTi, as those sounds live in the computer and can be accessed directly.

Change the audio settings in BIAB to MME instead of ASIO before opening SONAR. Only one program at a time can use ASIO without a special driver from Steinberg.
A hardware synth needs to be recorded to a audio track first before it can be drag & drop "true".

Didn't Steinberg come up with a multi-client ASIO driver that would allow you to have both BIAB and X1 open at the same time? I think I read about this sometime back on the Steinberg site ( http://www.steinberg.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=48 ). I must have installed it as I can run both BIAB and X1 and play songs in each at the same time...sounds pretty weird coming out of the phones though! Perhaps it also has to do with your interface as I recall some support the multi-client app and some don't.

Steinberg's Multi-client does allow multiple instances of ASIO; however, if your soundcard has multiple ports, it latches on to the first one it finds and doesn't let you switch to the other ports. Unless they have since changed that...

Hmmmm....just as an FYI for you MOTU audio interface users out there using MOTU ASIO drivers, I loaded X1, BIAB and RB all at the same time, brought up a different song in each, loaded several VSTi's in Sonar, directed BIAB and RB through my Motif rack and then directed all three programs outputs through my 828Mk3 interface. I set the outputs of each program to my main monitors. I then hit play in each program....all three played through the mains at the same time with no drop outs and no skips. I could switch back and forth between each running program on the computer; starting, stopping and pausing the program at will. Not that it sounded very good, running three audio programs at the same time, but it appears that MOTU's newest ASIO driver supports multi-client use.
