Hi all,
I'm new to BIAB, only had it a couple of days, but finding my way around slowly.
I ran a test to burn to CD with a short piece. It saved it as .WAV , ok. But it only recorded the drums, nothing else.
I've looked at my "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" and "Realtech AC97 Audio" but can find nothing to turn on to Midi Recording.
I guess there's something I'm not doing. Can anyone help. This is probably child's play to many of you experts so I don't mind being talked down to.

Can you please give some more details like what version of BIAB and if you are using midi or RealDrums

Hello Chris,
What do you have selected for your MIDI Output Driver (Opt.-MIDI Driver Setup)? In the same window, do you have "Use DXi Synth" checked or unchecked? If checked, what DXi synth is selected?
If you are currently using the GS Wavetable as your MIDI Output Driver, and are not using a DXi synth... You should try the VSC-DXi, which should have been installed with Band-in-a-Box. This will sound better, and then you can use the "Direct Render to WAV" feature, which doesn't involve any real-time recording and is much easier.
(From what you are saying, it sounds like you rendered to wave by recording your song in realtime (re-render to wave file button) and you didn't have the correct recording device selected in the Record Control panel - should be something like MIDI synth, wave, or what u hear. But that doesn't matter if you switch to 'direct rendering').

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the advice. I went to Opt.-MIDI Driver Setup and sorted it out.
Now the test piece is ok.
For Jazzman, I am using BIAB 2009 Pro. and using the drums incorporated in the STY. Jazz Swing Style from the drop down menu. I'm sure this programme can do much better than that and I hope to find out as I use it. The user guide isn't great. It assumes you are pretty well on top of what music systems can do and at this stage, outside of Sibelius, I am not.
In due course I will try recording with miked sax so I guess I will incorporate other problems at that point.

Is there a separate step that is needed to install/activiate the VSC-DXi synth? I recall seeing it mentioned in the install process, but when I went to select (map?) the MIDI it was not visable. Right now I'm using the standard GS MIDI.

VSC DXi won't show in the upper window.
Hit the "Use Dxi" button down below to see its window.
