In the way of proving that, I'd hit ctrl-alt-del and when the Windows Task Manager opens I'd take a look at the Running Processes listing using the right tab at top, whatever its called in the different available Win OS's, locate Windows Media Player, click it once to highlight and tell the Task Manager to End Process.

Then I'd try opening that .wav file in BiaB and see whether or not this is really a WMP problem.

Are you running as Administrator when you run BiaB or at least using a Profile that has been assigned Administrator privileges? That might be what's really causing the problem.

It would be nice to know what your particular Operating System is, that can affect the answers you will receive as there are indeed differences.
