Well, I guess it had to come to this some day. I was asked for some local TV-show, but I had to lipsync my song That means the mic you're carying is turned off !!! I'd rather have them send me up on stage without my clothes than turning my mic down..... Hence the title of this thread. It just about perfectly captures the feeling I had when I entered the stage. Due to my nerves I don't even wear my own shirt Well, if you're interested to see me (sort of live) on tv, just click this link that will take you to Youtube.... Oh, ehm.....it's the Dutch version of "In my heart"

Mike, that was VERY IMPRESSIVE.
A job well done. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
PS – don’t forget about us when you take your world tour!
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Thanks Mario! But give me a live mic over this lipsynkin' horror anyday. I was nervous as **** and it shows. Unfortunatly it seems that appearing on these kind of shows automaticly means you have to be your own ventrilliquist-doll And rest assured I won't forget you guys if I ever get to go on a world tour... I want to have a complete band when touring, and I know just the place where to assemble one!!

Great job Mike........
Actually most people watching would attribute the slight give away as bad sync with video audio, instead of you lip syncing, that is if you hadn't given it away...hehe
Nice stage presence as well

If you ever get the chance to hear what some TV soundstages and sound techs can do to your live voice, you might like the lip syncing thing a bit better in the future (grin). Something one of my first music teachers taught me, I shall pass it on to you: "Never apologize beforehand." By that, he meant not to tell anybody what to expect about your performance before they were subjected to it. That advice has served me well for years. It is good stuff. If you don't tell 'em, they won't look for it. Strong performance, man! Next time don't wear the worn blue jeans on TV, 'K? --Mac

Thanks for all the nice comments! Really appreciate it. As for the apology beforehand: I didn't want you guys to think that terrified look in my eyes was my standard face Mac, as for the worn blue jeans: I am a musian for a living. The only other pair of trousers I have belong to my wedding suit

Sorry I am late for getting to this one Mike, but all I can add is what others have already said and that is . . . a strong performance whether it be live or Memorex. I can tell that you know your way around a stage very well and this makes you a performer, a very good one.
Later,

Hhaha, well Mike, being a Dutchman myself, and most of the times don't like Dutch songs at all, I thought it was much better than many of the Dutch songs I heared before. I can assure you, most Dutch songs I easily burn down, so consider it a compliment.
And well even if you would not have told us the lipsyncing thingy, to me it was very clear, but then again, I know the language which of course makes things more obvious. Hahaha, keep practising on the lypsyncing homey!
Anyway... nice performance.
I'll be back...

I have learned to dread any performance where there isn't at least a little bit of nervousness before the start.
Overconfidence can be the kiss of death in that dept.
A "little" nervousness is good, can start the adrenaline rollin' and make the thinking and personal feedback happen, but it must be kept in check.

Mike, you're just great in this performance, miming or not!
I'm sure I speak for (nearly) the whole forum community when I say we're very proud to see one of our own up there in the stage lights and with the make-up on.
Also, we know that you're not up there by accident, but because: - you've got buckets of talent - you work damn hard at your art - you know how to listen to others to get even better.
Seeing this has made my day brighter,
regards,
Marc

Thanks for the compliments! And Marc, thanks for adding a reply on YouTube. I really apreciate it!!! Citaat:

Before the start of normal gigs the only tension I feel is the concentration on the show to come and the estimation of the audience. But this lipsyncing thing......man....I felt so uncomfertable. They don't need a singer for that, just someone who does know the recorded version of the song well enough to make it look like he's singing it live

Mike, that sounded nice. Band track was nice also. Guitar sounded great. I wouldn't have known you were lip-syncing either if you hadn't told us. And I couldn't tell you were nervous. You seemed comfortable to me. Great job.
