This issue was posted sort of OT in another thread so I thought I'd give it it's own space.
My default set up is Coyote Forte and I have "Use VST/DXI" checked and No midi output selected.
When trying to play certain files through Coyote Forte DXI, all I get is drum sounds...or no sound at all... including some but not all BIAB files that shipped with 2013 such as Swingin' Piano Solo...and others. But LOTS of other native BIAB files and others I've DL'd from various sources, play fine such as the Artist Performance Sets for example.
To get sound on the Swingin' Piano Solo files, I need to uncheck "Use VST/DXI" and select Microsoft Wave Table for midi output which is the only midi output driver that appears even after running Driver Wizard.
Not sure exactly what sound card I have on this new Dell running Win 7. But Device Manager refers to it as AMD High Definition Audio Device.
Which particular bit of stupidity am I engaging in this time????
(-:
THANKS!

If the Drums label is in Green, the reason you hear them is that green means RealDrums are replacing MIDI drums.
It also means that your soundcard is working.
Yellow tracknames indicate MIDI tracks.
If the trackname is yellow and you hear nothing from the Coyote Forte, go to Options->MIDI/ Audio... and check the Use DXi button there again, the Coyote window should open, if it doesn't just hit the VST/DXi Synth Settings button below the checkbox.
In the next window, check to make sure the "bypass" is not checked, also that the second dropdown on the RH top side is set to "Forced MIDI Channel = None".
If that does not return the synth to operation, then try the 2nd button choice under Options -> Return to Factory Settings. The first button resets everything that can be reset but the MIDI synth and sound settings. The second button will reinvoke the MIDI synth and driver wizards as if you had just installed the program for the first time and often gets things going again.

Jim, I might have gone off on a tangent here, but I'm interpreting your post as saying that Coyote Forte doesn't work properly. If that's the case, please read on ... I recall a post a few months ago where the outcome was that the person needed to have Microsoft Wavetable selected (to get sound) even though they were running VST/DXi at the time. Try setting (1) and (2) like I have (both boxes ticked). Where I have VSC/DXi (3), you should have Coytote Forte. I'd also be setting the Audio Driver to MME (if it's set to ASIO). Hope this helps, Noel

PROGRESS!
I had Sample Tank selected below the Use VST/DXI. I have not screwed up my courage to get going with Sample Tank so I get a message that my 10 day trial period has expired.
While I DO now hear sound...and THANKS for that...my only Coyote-related choice below Use VST/DXI is Coyote WT. I see noting related to Coyote Forte.
Should I leave well enough alone or is there a way to invoke Forte instead of WT?
THANKS!
And MAC...thanks for your comments too!
Jim

Hey Jim, Glad to hear that "progress" word Since Coyote Forte doesn't come with BIAB, I assume that you have purchased a copy. If that's the case ... 1. Click on the VSTi icon. If it's not visible, click on the >> sign to the right of the yellow cross below. 2. Go through each of the tracks - Bass, Piano, Guitar, etc. - and double-check that they're set to "none". 3. Click on the "Default Synth" button at the bottom of the window (1), click on the drop-down menu (2) and, from the list that pops up, select "Coyote Forte" (I don't have Coyote Forte so I can't show you this one. In the below image, I'm showing how to select either Coyote WT (3) or VSC/DXi (4) soft synths as a default. The principle is the same with Coyote Forte.) Hope this does the job for you! Noel

MORE Progress.
Your question as to whether I own Coyote Forte was a great clue. I DID purchase it re: an earlier installation.
Before going any further, do you know whether the Forte synth program can be copied to a new version of BIAB or would I have to purchase it again for it to work on a new version? If the latter, then that is the issue...i.e. Forte simply won't run on the new BIAB version...and I will be happy to buy another license.
If, on the contrary, Forte CAN be moved to a new BIAB version then I still have issues.
I now notice on my 10.5 installation that the Coyote folder was on the root drive and not in the BB folder. I moved it to BB but before doing so I hit the DXI/Synth button which brought up the VST/DirctX menu with the top Edit button selected and "None" in the adjacent pull down menu.
When I click on that menu, my only choices are Coyote WT and Add VSTiPlugin.
Please note that in the Coyote folder there is no "installation" option.
Also, moving the Coyote folder into BB made no difference.
Sorry for all the random tidbits...I'm just trying to give you as much information as I can.
Bottom line...where I stand now is that...
1. I DO get sound. 2. I have Use VST/DXT checked. 3. In the VST/DirectX window my only choice is CoyoteWT.
I can only assume that Forte is a higher quality softsnyth than Coyote WT so I would like to get Forte to work.
If memory serves, I purchased Forte PRIOR to my 10.5 installation. And when launching 10.5 I see that I was using Coyote WT and NOT forte so all this time I assumed I was hearing Forte output but apparently not.
Too funny!
FINALLY, I'm running EverythingPak. Do I assume correctly that Forte IS NOT included as part of that Pak and that I would have to buy it?
THANKS!!!
Jim

Hi again, Jim.
Sorry. I don't know enough about Forte to be able to answer your questions. Since the software is a VST/DXi, though, I suspect that it's not a simple matter of moving the folder from one computer to another and that re-installion and re-registration are required.
Since you've already purchased the program, you should be able to use it on your new computer. I'd contact Pg Music and ask their advice on how best to go about installing it and registering it on your newer system.
All the best, Noel

You'll need registration key. If you still have it, it will work; just download free trial from Coyote and insert key. http://www.coyotes.bc.ca/Forte.html If not, contact PG, they'll likely have record of it.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

VICTORY!!!!
With the help of you kind folks and the great PG support staff, the issue is resolved. Support gave me my registration key and I followed their instructions with the result that Forte' is now up and running.
It is TOO funny that I've been listening through Coyote WT all this time while thinking I had Forte' installed. I didn't expect a massive improvement in sound quality and didn't get one but the improvement is certainly noticeable.
THANKS for your help.
Best, Jim
