This may be the old driver issue that can happen when trying to use ASIO sound drivers with more than one host program at a time.
Try setting Band in a Box to use MME drivers.
There is also a setting in the BB Audio settings window, "ASIO Always On" which you can experiment with, unchecking that *may* allow the sharing of ASIO, depending upon how the sound device's drivers were done.
I have always found it simpler and easier to set bb to MME sound drivers when needing to open the big DAW recording program. No loss, as at that point I'm not recording inside bb and can still generate and regenerate realtracks and such just fine with MME drivers.

AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
