Hi

Why does my printer not print anything blue(cyan)this is a printer my brother lent me and it printed ok when he last used it,for me it won`t print anything blue its just pinky,

this is the third printer i have used and they have all been the same, all different types but they all suffer the same problem and the amazing thing is the blue shows up that it is going down in the ink moniter, i exspect that everybody sees that the blue, red & yellow ink still disapears even though you are only printing in black with the colours turned off,is this normal

i would rather have a black and white manual then a pink one i have changed the blue cartridge three times to see if it would print ok but it never does, anybody had this fault and any cure apart from dark glasses

I wonder if it could be related to outdated drivers.

I must say, my printer also gave trouble since I tried working with BiaB, but I thought that it must have been a coïncidence. But well it gave up all the way after some failed tries. All I got was a shade of yellow, or red, and when I tried to use only black, some undefined color which probably was a mix of black and red. And all my cartdridges where empty in no time.

I have the feeling my printer just died from natural causes, but still I thought I mention the thing since there seems at least some colour related failure. I don't have the money to buy a new one at this moment, so I can not tell if I have the same problem again.

i've not experienced that. At least not yet (grin).

My last three printers have all been HP Deskjets.

I must add that I only print music in B&W, being a cheapskate y'know, er, "frugal".

*What *brand* and model printers are these?

*Do they print okay using other softwares?

Maybe we can narrow this down...

First of all try running the cleaning program on your printer. In most cases the printing heads will be cleaned and a testpage is printed. This way you can determin if the defect is in the printer or not. (This is in the case in most of the times)

If the printer printsall colors C,Y,M and K (and in some cases Light C, Licht Y and Light M) fine, then your problem lies probably in the driver. Are you using the correct driver (correct brand/type and model) and are you using the latest drivers? Are the driver settings correct?

If the above are all ok, does the problem occur with only one application or are there other applications that have the same problem? Are there any programs that print good?

As for ink-usage: A lot of consumer-type printers use all colors even when printing in black. That is the way they make money, since they practacly give away their printers for free.

Let's not forget the basics. Are all the ink cartridges installed and full?

Hi

I`ve just printed a half dozen different pages from different programs and they are all the same blue not being used atall, i saved the home page of BIAB and printed it out, every thing was dark pink to light pink except the Band-in-a box 2009 which was yellow and the online store which was orange every thing else was yuk

so its nothing todo with BIAB just the fact thats about all i print in a year the PG manuals i think i will do what Mac does and print them all in black and white,

they are all epson the last one was three years old and all i printed with it was 6 manuals and half a dozen pieces of music of a ragtime archive and what happerned was i started getting little dialouges saying the printer was starting to break up through old age, well something like that and every second row would not print and thats after the little bit of printing i did

the driver i downloaded off the epson site the week end and was up to date i put new cartridges in before i started using the printer so they where OK

There probably lies your problem. Ink will dry in time, cluttering up your printing nozzles. With a lot of printers these printheads are replaced with the cartridge. Epson however has printers that use a different approach. On some models (I don't know if it is on all) they use a better quality printhead, but they build it into the machine instead of the cartridges. Now when you don't use your printer on a regular base, the ink will dry and clutter the printingnozzles. That is why I suggested running the cleaning program.

If the printer still doesn't work correct after a couple of cleaning runs (it may take several tries before you get the desired result) and your printer is of the type where the printhead is fixed in the printer, then you can consider the printer total-loss. Unfortunatly the printers these days are cheaper to buy than to have them repaired. But in this case you have nothing to lose anyway, so you can disassemble the printer up to the point where you reach the printhead (unplug power and data cables first! ). Start by removing the ink-cartridges and determin where the printhead is. The printhead can be cleaned using a cloth and some alcohol.

What Mike said and your ink may have evaporated by different degrees according to color . . . bottom-line, printers are very cheap.

I've had this exact problem with an Epson printer. The cartridges in some comsumer level cheap printers will dry out almost overnight. That's why I stick to Canon photo printers.

This process can work, but it's a bit messy: remove the cartridge, being carefull not to touch the contact area. Fold a paper towel over a few times and soak a big spot on it with denatured alcohol. Lay the cartridge on the towel with the ink nozzles on the alcohol soaked area. If the cartridge doesn't lay flat, use some sort of shim to level it. Leave it there for 15-30 minutes. Gently wipe off the excess alcohol and desolved ink from the nozzle area and re-install the cartridge. Do the cleaning from the maintenance screen.

This has usually worked for me. Be advised that some printers are just naturally prone to cartridge drying. Maybe they sell a lot of those over-priced cartridges that way...

And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
