In BIAB, you type Cmaj7#5. Without the "j" it won't work. And no parentheses.
Also, check out the chord builder function by right-clicking, chord builder. This shows all supported chord types and, more important, how they must be entered in BIAB.
I agree and to be certain I just tried it.
Type "Cmaj7#5" without the quotes and hit the Enter key.
While there are some chords that we have to resort to workarounds such as the slash chord example in order to have the notes sound right, the Maj7#5 is not one of them.
