I am using windows xp. When I load a wave file and go to track category where there are suppose to be presets they all say unassigned. How can I getthe presets to show up. Thanks in advance.

Hi. You're right clicking on the track logo area and from the popup choosing Track Category and on the subsequent popup there's a list of instruments but the popup for each shows no choices?

Sounds like the needed bitmaps are not (properly?) installed. If you search on my id plus track categories, you'll locate a couple threads with clues on how track categories (with or without FX) are assembled. This should help for troubleshooting the factory defaults.

Hi,

This can happen if you have the Windows Indexing Service disabled. To resolve the problem:

1. Close PowerTracks Pro Audio.
2. Right-click on the PowerTracks folder on your hard drive (usually C:\pt) and select Properties.
3. In the General tab, Click the [Advanced] button.
4. Place a checkmark beside "For fast searching, allow Indexing Service to index this folder" and press OK.
5. Press Apply, and select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files". Press OK.
6. Close the Properties dialog and re-open PowerTracks.

Have the same problem. Tried both Andrew's answer and reviewed posts from rkl122. Still track categories remain unassigned. Must be something obvious I'm not doing. Any further suggestions?

Try doing the same thing with the Realband folder.
Andrew's reply was the stock answer for Powertracks and he mentioned the Powertracks folder...
this is a Realband issue, right?
..just checking to make sure you did Realband folder...
Is realband running from the C: drive, or an external drive?

Is the folder limited by the 'read only' property from copying it to the C: drive?
Just another guess..

I've just tried changing the properties - no difference.
It's not vital for me - I am no more intrigued as to why I cannot assign track categories

It IS a handy feature once its working.. you can create your own categories for a consistent vocal sound, ect.

Hmm.. we've solved this a couple times before, with a couple different solutions, I'll have to look back in my notes, or search the forum.

Are there a bunch of bitmaps in the PT subfolders used by the program to relate the categories?
Someone mentioned this earlier and I don't know if you checked that..
I can't remember the folder name right now, but there is stock folder and a user folder fo bitmaps.

I'm not on my home PC right now but yes there are folders containing bitmaps for PG defined categories and user categories. Also there is the folder with the .tgs files in.
