I don't think there is a difference either way, Bobby. I recommend the M-Audio because I have one, and it works for me.

Any device like this should have a driver, because Windows needs to know how to address it. Trying drivers for Edirol or M-Audio will not work, because those drivers are written to operate their respective devices. Each device should have a unique driver.

So, I would recommend either the Edirol or the M-Audio, and it will come with a disk that you will need to install to get it to work right. That's why nothing is working for you.

As to the controller keyboard, you may have already loaded drivers for it, or it has a set that auto configures, but you won't get anything out to the JV1010 unless you have some sort of MIDI interface that is recognized from within Real Band.
