I'm a new user learning my way around BIAB. I'm finding Help useless for most questions, so I'm trying this forum. I've inputted the chords for a song, and in the middle I get 8 measures of just the drum part. I've looked at the mixer and nothing seems to have changed. I have no idea how or why the other parts were muted. After the muted the other parts kick in, and then it happens again when the chorus repeats at the end of the song. Help!

First, welcome back. This is a good place to get help, but if we can't solve your problem, know that you can always call PG Music Support. They are really great.

Couple of ideas.

Are you using version 2013? If you are, click on the Memo button, then click on Bar Summary. You can see all the Bar Settings that you used in the song, and you might find that you muted parts where you didn't expect. You can also look in the song for measure numbers that have red boxes, indicating you made some bar settings change there.

Also, it's less likely, but tell us about your computer. Again, if you are using version 2013, the minimum requirements for good performance are higher. Download and run the free Geekbench utility and let us know what your score is. If your computer is on the low side, there are some settings you can try, but I don't want to get ahead of myself until we know more.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is what I found when I went to Memo/Bar Summary: there are no bar settings:
Key=C , Tempo 85, Length (m:s)=3:31
4 bar intro, 67 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 71. Repeat x1 chorus

And this is what geekbench says about my computer:

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
Model: Dell Inc. XPS 8300
Processor
Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.09 GHz
1 processor, 4 cores
8192 MB DDR3 SDRAM 666MHz

OK, your computer is more then fine. And if you have no bar settings, I don't have any suggestions except to call Support tomorrow. Good luck!

ps Geekbench should have also given you a result score, like 6,250

And, these answers will be needed: What version of BIAB are you using? Are you using it from the supplied external drive, or did you install to your hard drive?

Some styles intentionally do this. What style are you using?

I have the latest versions of BIAB and RB installed from an external hard drive to my computer with all the Real Drums and Real Tracks available. My computer's Geekbench score was 7761.

The style I'm using on this "problem" song is "GRVFLK2 - Pop Ballad AcGuitar 85 RS".

Rather than use repeat signs in the set up, I just run all the verses and choruses and switch the substyle changes a to b and sometimes adding the c and d - although those don't seem to work out very often (nor can I find a definition for what "set in the song" means). The first parts drop-out comes in what I would call the Bridge - 8 bars where I only have the drum part.

Thank you for your help and comments.

Does it occur at the 'B' (Green) part markers? What happens if you change everything to 'A' (Blue)?

What happens if you try another style? Another song?

Okay. Here's what's happened so far: I went back to the song just now after closing down BIAB and the Bridge section played with all the parts assigned (!) just like it should have yesterday on the first through the sixth run through (and thus prompting my question).

Now the last Chorus of the song with a third subset part assigned (for the big finish) just kept on with the same subset as the previous eight bars. So I assigned subset 4 to that last Chorus, saved the song, and quit BIAB completely, opened BIAB up again, played the song and there was subset part 4 playing on the last chorus just as it had been assigned.

So am I to understand that when I make a change in BIAB that I have to quit the program completely for it to take? That doesn't seem right or very efficient (but I'll keep doing it if that's what works).

Presuming you meant "_GRVFLK2" (the initial underscore tells us it's a Realtrack versus MIDI style), there are no C/D parts associated with that style. Or are you creating your own by selecting another style for C/D.

All styles come with A and B part markers; others are created already defined with additional part markers (called Multi-styles), but most aren't. You can create your own multi-styles.

Not sure what you did in your song; the style played fine on my system. You shouldn't have to restart BIAB to play your songs (although after a long session, you might need to).

Maybe try resetting BIAB to factory defaults and see if that fixes it.

If we make any changes to a saved song, or to a song with Frozen parts, we must first UNfreeze the parts, then we must also hit Gen/Play button to regenerate the song with the new changes in order to hear those changes.

Of course, closing down BB and then reopening it, you have to hit the Gen/Play button to hear anything and that may be what is happening here.

Not sure if that's what's happening at your end, but thought it worth pointing out.
