Hi there, I am starting to work with vocals and am having problems recording vocals in stereo. I used the online chat and all he could tell me that a Mic is a mono device. I have tried in Biab and Rb and all I get is either left channel or right channel depending on what channel I am plugge into. I am using an ASIO DirectX Full duplex Driver. All settings in the record adio dialog box is set to stereo. Any suggestions?

Hi Darren,
I'm sure others will answer your question more clearly. I use a emu 0404 interface and press the mono button to hear my vocal in both headphones L and R while I'm recording. Once the track is recorded even tho it's a mono track it sits nicely in the center of a stereo mix. I don't actually record any vocals in true stereo. I suppose you could but you would need two mics or you would have to run through a mixer and assign the one mic input to two channels panned left and right.

Have you located the Audio tab in Preferences in each program and set the dropdown window to Stereo? What is the exact type of mic and what is the signal chain from mic to computer, what type of soundcard? Quote:

That *may* be the problem, the DirectX ASIO indicates a micro$oft software ASIO situation, do you have any other mention of any other type of ASIO in the Audio Input sections?

I have ASIO4ALL
ASIO Multimedia
and ASIO DirectX Full Duplex
The Direct X is the only one that seemed to work
It seems that if I am working in BIab or RB using the MME driver works fine. When I need to record a vocal I have to switch to an ASIO driver
Well I started out with a recording issue and now Real Band is totally un responsive. I have uninstalled and re installed Realband three times and it crashs each time. Biab works ok though. This all my have started when my USB unplugged while trouble shooting the recording issue or when I selected the 48v phantom power on my interface.

*What is this "interface" exactly?
Does it have its own drivers for audio?
