Hi folks,,
Just picked up a Used Acer Aspire D270, before I take the time to install it....has anyone tried using it with a Netbook? Im not expecting Cray performance, Im just wondering if anyone has gotten the RD/RT to play?

Ed, I tried a Toshiba netbook and had trouble with any more than one RealTrack. That was two years ago, and it is my impression that version 2013 requires more computer power than the older versions did.
Try this, though: download and run Geekbench, and report your score here. If it is more than 1000, you may have a chance, especially if you use some of the options in Preferences, RealTracks for older/slower computers.
By the way, if you are using just MIDI, BIAB may run fine on that netbook.

I have the Acer D270, though I have never tried it with BIAB. I did find that it was slow running the installed Win 7 basic, to the point of unuseable - until I fitted an extra 2 gig of RAM. This does wonders for the machine, now it's a zippy little sexy beast. There are videos on Utube about how to do this, the fiddly bit is getting out the keyboard (which you don't need to disconnect), you need eyeballs for that bit, so my daughter stepped in. I strongly recommend you do this , you will be much happier, I muse. I would be interested to know how you get on

The Acer Aspire D270 specs I just brought up on Bing show that it uses an Atom processor.
The Atom processor has been reported by others on this forum as not being able to handle Band in a Box Realtracks and a few other cpu intensive tasks very well if at all.

Also interested on how this works out for you . . . another question I would ad on would be can the notebook run BIAB with realtracks if they were installed on a usb connected hardrive of their own?
I'll also keep watching this tread, so I ditto the request above to let know how things work out.

Danny, I see that as a Catch-22. A USB external drive is slower throughput than an internal hard drive, but on a netbook, there probably isn't room for most of the RealTracks.

I have an ASUS netbook. I didn't run BIAB on it, but the sound out is terrible. However, I'm using a Creative Soundblaster THX usb plug in sound card and it's not bad now. I use the netbook on gigs running win 7 home premium. I will say that the processor is waaaaaay slower than my desktop or laptop that I used to use. FWIW
