BIAB only has 2 tracks for incoming audio, the soloist and the melodist tracks.

The Melody and Soloist tracks record MIDI only.

BIAB has 1 Audio track.

One can set it to stereo and record one thing on the L and another on the R but BIAB is not really designed for multitracking and it would be a difficult thing to accomplish if any editing needs to be done.

RealBand or Powertracks is the place for adding more tracks and editing.

BIAB is the place for developing a new song with autoaccompaniment (so-called "bed" tracks), Soloists, etc. Then EXPORT the song to RB or PT to continue recording your own tracks to the fray and for eventual mixing and mastering.

Wow! Thanks guys, I got more info here in one setting than I did in days of reading posts & forums, on the internet.--I"m going to take you guys advice and not use the firewire port.No where has anybody said there would be a problem w/firewire and the connection on the computer ,same with the problem with usb, and vista.
Gary , thanks for clearing things up a bit, that sure helps. I think I"ll go with either the delta 1010lt or the 66 you suggested. If I understand it right the 1010lt has preamps in it, so you won"t have to buy a separate mic preamp is that correct?

Kevin,
Yes, two of the channels have mic pre amps on them. The nice thing about the 1010lt is that you have, not counting the S/PDIF, either 8 mono inputs, or four stereo inputs. Bob Harvey, RHarv on the forums, has been using the 1010lt with PowerTracks Pro Audio for quite some time, and has been very happy with it. He would be the one person to give you the super details on that piece of equipment. You can look him up, and send him a Private Message in forum, and he'll be happy to answer it for you.

Gary

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Thanks Gary,
I take it that you have to open your computer up and plug it in somewhere. This may seem like a dumb question, but what about all the cords hanging out, where do they go

They will hang on the outside. Here's a generic video of installing a pci card:

Don't worry about the software side that this guy describes. All you do is follow the directions that come with the card. Real simple.
