We've had many reports of error messages such as these happening if BB was installed to the Program Files folder and not to the default C: bb folder.
We've also had many reports of same if the user has not turned UAC off for the program to run properly. Band in a Box must be able to Write to files automatically in order to run, but protective things like UAC (User Account Control) or installing bb to the Program Files folder attempt to prevent that from happening in order to prevent rogue and undesirable code such as viruses and trojans from doing same.
It has been the case that once the user straightens out the above two issues, the program runs just fine.
