[Edit -- rebooting solved the problem. Am leaving the original post in place, below, for posterity]

Hi,

I'm new to BIAB. I got Band-in-a-Box for Windows Version 2013 (365) around last Xmas time and installed it on a new Windows 7 laptop (64 bit, 16 gb RAM). I played around with BIAB over that holiday, then had to leave it for a while; then returned to it earlier this month ( a few weeks ago).

Today I installed the trial version of Coyote Forte DXi, launched BIAB, and saw that now, suddenly, the main area, where the symbols of all the chords in a song are normally displayed is now blacked out, except that the symbol for only one or two chords -- the one or two which are being played at that moment -- are displayed.

This is the case no matter which BIAB file I open -- one of my own, or any of the many included factory ones.

I have loads of RAM so don't think that's the problem. Other software (e.g. Studio One; Acid) displays fine. I have no idea why BIAB would suddenly do this -- the only thing which is different now is that Coyote Forte is now installed, but it seems unlikely that would cause a display problem. I did use the Options / Return to Factory Settings option, but this has not helped.

I took a screen shot and posted it to Photobucket, here

This is from one of the factory files, Ballad1 - Soloist Demo #1 - Vibes.MGU.

I can hear everything fine; just can't see the chords.

Any ideas what's wrong? I really need to get this fixed -- if I can't see the chords, well, I pretty much can't use the software.

I'd be grateful for any advice.
