I am another new user on the board and am having problems getting the REST function to work where I need it to. I set it up in the Chord Options panel, the cord changes to red, etc., but the song continues on when it gets to that place on the chart. So, it's obvious I'm doing something wrong.
Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.
Please tell us more detail about what you want to do; I'm sure we can help. It might be as simple as placing a single period after the chord, which means Rest all instruments. But we need details, chord by chord and beat by beat, to be sure.

Turning Red means use of Jazz Fonts, which don't show the periods.
Might be that you have to hit the PLAY button and force a regeneration of the song after invoking the Rest(s).
If it isn't that, may be time to do the Opts. -> Return to Factory Settings in order to get all of BB's bit ducks back in a row behind the mama duck...

I right-click the chord and select Chord Settings, and in the Chord Options panel I select Rest/Hold Chord, All Instruments, and the chord now is Red with three ... after it, so it looks good. When I hit Replay, the Rest is not seen by BB. It plays right on through.

Maybe its time to do an Opt. -> Return to Factory Settings and get things back in a row.

Also, let's please just check terms here for a moment:
You said "I select Rest/Hold Chord...". I know the dialog box says Rest Type and then there is a pulldown. When you select Hold Chord in that pulldown, it doesn't mean that a 'rest' is held; it means that the chord is held. This is not supposed to be a rest. Is that how you understand it? If you really want a rest, try one dot (rest all instruments, or rest all except) or two dots, which is a shot. Not three.
And just for good measure, do what Mac said, since it can't hurt and might help.

Hold does not work on RealTracks, only MIDI tracks.
Maybe that's it.

Thanks guys. First, I AM using RealTracks, so I guess that solves that. I do understand the Chord Hold function, but the RealTracks issue got by me. So much to digest, so little time. But I like BB a lot.

No, 'soon' was just me being overly optomistic. I know how these changes take time. And I'm not complaining, because BB is an awesome product that I have only scratched the surface of.
