I know I can build a multi-measure rest by using a bar containing a whole-note rest with "section text" to add a number above that rest. Is there another way to do that?
What you are referring to is about the NOTATION and not the actual playback. If you are needing to make a printed Leadsheet or chart, this can be used to denote Rests for other musicians to read. --And only are of use in the Melody or Soloist tracks that do not regenerate by means of Style files.
But the Playback of BB's Autoaccomaniment Tracks is different and to get the instruments to Rest there we must use the Chord Settings window to Rest All Instruments as well.
Also, back in 2010 I "wished" in the appropriate forum for some new annotation symbols: trill, mordent, etc. I never saw any response from PGMusic. A search of the web site does not return any hits. Did anything ever come of that?
We now have some notation options available in notation Edit mode that allow for some of the common indicators. Looking into my current copy of BB2013 for you, I can list the following available as of now:
Ricghtclick, select Notation Symbols and the menu is:
Slur...
Crescendo...
Decrescendo...
Staccato...
Regular Accent...
Legato Accent...
Staccatissimo...
Note that these are only NOTATION symbols and do not affect actual playback. Handy for making charts. Playback must be done by using the Chord Settings and available options, such as Push, Hit, Rest, etc. for the Autoaccompaniment Tracks, and using MIDI commands and controls for the Melody or Soloist tracks.
