Do you use any other DAW besides Real Band?

I always use RB to render the tracks then I export them using the AUDIO tab at the top tool bar.... into a folder and then into my Sonar X1 DAW.

Aside from that... I would suggest you pick up the FREE NCH Wavepad wave/mp3 editor

http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html

I export my tunes completely mixed into a folder on my desk top and then open them with Wavepad. I trim the count in and ending silence, and then run the normalize function on them to bring the WAVE peaks to 100%....I then convert to MP3 for posting.

The normalize function will boost the 80% wave to 100% and there are no artifacts. You can also select a lesser number such as 96% for some headroom.

Compression will also bump the volume but if you are not careful, you can easily compress all the musical dynamics right out of the song. It becomes just plain old loud.
