beautiful, graham! yes, you live in a pretty part of the world. just gorgeous!
it may be my tired old ears but, i had to strain to hear the female vox parts but my high end range is gone after too many years in noisy industry.
btw, we have a scottish lass friend with a strong scot's burr and we love to listen to her talk. do you have a burr? my mother was of scottish decent and she pronounced 'butter' as 'bu-er' without the slightest hint of a 't' sound. her parents came from a small town near glasgow.

Mac,
We used to close this tune with . . . yes they'll come to see me, in the state penitentiary, cause I got caught, smoking the green - green - grass - of - - - hommmmmme. And of course . . . down he lane I walk with my sweet Bessy, she's a nice cow but she sure is messy, etc. etc.
You and Graham both brought back a memories.

I mind Box Car Willie had a great fun version of this one.  I've also recorded an Al Jolson Medley & another Elvis one recently  If you tune into my programmes on www.twangtownusa.com you'll hear I have a definate Scottish accent.

The extra verse we used to use was this:

Good one furry, it's always been one of my favorites. I'll light one up for that tune. Ha! you can see why the Scots -Irish settled in Appalachia - the hills are so similar. I've heard when you grow up in the hills one leg gets longer than the other from running those ridges and you can no longer stand comfortably on flatlands.
