If you have Audio on the Audio track, as you would after importing from the ACW, it is recommended that you RightClick on the Audio label at the top right of the instruments and just choose to MUTE the audio in that song. Then continue working. Likely there is other data than just the chords after using the ACW and copying the chords and pasting into a New file doesn't bring that data along with it.

Also, pay attention to the Style window, after ACW song import there will be an X in front of the stylename, showing that Styles have been disabled. RightClick on the Style name to enable the style after muting the Audio, then pick a suitable style that fits the song.
