I'm looking at this because it's one of few that has a conventional PCI slot.I have a Delta 1010 that needs to go into this. My research is showing me that Conventional PCI is not so conventional. So.....can anyone tell me if my Delta 1010 card will install into this machine?
Thanks

Well, the Quickspecs in the link do say it has one PCI slot.

But what caught my eye may be an eliminator, it also says:

Memory Capacity 4GB DDR3

That may be a misidentification in which they are trying to say that it comes with 4GB installed but perhaps this mobo can take higher ramncount. Or perhaps it can't and they are truly reporting a capacity limit of 4GB.

I'd hit ASUS Support with the questions regarding both issues.

I would expect it to. Your drivers will change though from the XP machine, if you are still using that.
The 64 bit drivers are not as intuitive IMO, but are stable.

It would be worth asking about the RAM, however on all other M11b systems it comes with 4 and can be upgraded to 16.

It does say in the specs below that memory capacity is 4 Gb. I'd definitely look around. Nearly two years ago I put together a DAW with a Gigabyte system board with a PCI slot and 32 Mb capacity, although I "only" installed 16.

My DAW (general specs below) was closely based on that of another forum member, who got it from iBuyPower. Their systems are intended for gamers, but with the addition of the sound card of your choice make first-rate DAWs. They are burned in for 72 hours before shipping and guaranteed, IIRC (I'm checked their site as I write), for 3 years. It would be hard to build a system cheaper, and you won't get that guarantee anywhere else.

HTH,

Richard

ETA: I just checked, and I was right. They come with a standard three-year labor, one-year parts warranty, which can be extend to four or five years. They are also highly customizable. Some systems can be bought off the shelf and shipped immediately; others will take longer, depending on the degree of customization.

Did you scroll down?
Looks like it is comp'd to the i5 and see below, depends on how you use the term burned. Value comparison;

The big question is that even though it's a PCI card what incarnation is it.One slot ,two slots. 3.3 v ,5 v. I remember Eddie running into this issue. Maybe it's time to give up the Delta.Don't know. Maybe just keep using rharv's old machine. It works fine.Just a little slower at times.

I can't believe that old eMachine is still running (grin)

What I noticed on that system is the Power Supply seemed a bit meager (300 watt)
That may cause more issues in the long run than anything. 'specially since it has 6 SATA connections.
The motherboardboard sounds much like the one I am currently on, which runs a 1010 just fine. If it helps I bought a motherboard less than a year ago that has the same PCI/PCIe slot descriptions and the 1010 works. It was MSI brand though.

It would be nice if you could get more technical info for re-assurance. Pretty slim on the search results for that model.

I've got an old eMachine that still chugs along here as well, although I don't use it very much anymore.

Yep it goes along quite well actually. It does what I need but because I don't want to give up the Delta I thought I would try to upgrade a bit while a convention PCI slot is still available.I gonna rethink this though.I don't do any multi input recording anymore.I'd be better off to sell the Delta and get a basic USB device.

That option sounds more "future proof" to me as well, John.

Although I'd likely just keep the good old Delta installed in the good old machine with its good old OS running as long as possible. Use it for backup, or a separated MIDI synth/sampler machine, audio editing and such tasks.

And, should the need ever arise where I might need multiple inputs and outputs for something in future as yet unforeseen.

As far as the big box DAW concept goes, you might also seriously consider a fair to middlin' good quality laptop and a USB recording device. I've been moving in that direction for the last few years and like it.

Get a more modern interface! i finally had to retire my delta card.

Presonus audiobox 1818VSL and the cost was less than that box. Pristine preamps, and a very sold unit.

Will do.It doesn't belong to me but to a friend. There's a story.
My friend in Fl had a new super computer built for music only.It had Win 7 pro.He installed the Delta. He could never get it working properly for long. Had the latest drivers etc. I even did a Team Viewer session and I kept loosing the drivers. He was convinced it was the Delta HW. I was not. I told him to send it to me and I chek it out. In the mean time one came available on ebay cheap so he bought it.I installed the Delta on my XP machine and it was perfect and has been ever since. He had his computer changed over from Win 7 to XP and the one he has works flawlessly as well.I think if I had been ther in person I could have fixed it but maybe not. So anyway I keep this one here for now in case he has issues I have one to use for trouble shooting.
I gree Mac. If I decide to go USB I'll buy a lappy. My Lenovo that I use for the show is fantastic.Win 7. I'm scared of Win 8.

I was/am also. But I felt the same about Win 7 when it came out and honestly if I recall the transition from music on the XP to music on the Win 7 was a long and painful process.

But time moves on and I now bought a new Surface Pro 2 with Win 8.1 This will not replace my desktop daw (win 7 machine), but will permit me to fully vet Win 8.1. So far it is working great with BIAB and the limited drivers I have needed to install to use it to replace my Dell Win 7 Laptop which in the past has run my live show. Still need to load some more but so far so good.

I did indeed, you Silvertoned devil. It was when I was looking for a mobo to support the MOTU interfaces and that card required 5v. If you get a mobo that has 5v slots, you can still use your 3.3v cards (if you even have any to insert). Just a form factor thing.

That whole MOTU experiment was brief but did help them find a HUGE bug that denied the option of using multiple interfaces. They patched it about 8 weeks later. Just in time for me to get a digital mixer and sell the MOTU stuff.... grin

Hey Eddie good to hear from you. I knew you could shed light. So my Delta is circa 1998.Will that vintage PCI card fit into & work with a new MOBO PCI slot?
Specs say:
1 PCIe x 16
2 PCIe x 1
1 PCI
