First, reboot the computer, it may just be a case of lost resources.

If no joy from the reboot, go to the Options menu in BB, select "Return to Factory Settings" which often restores stuff that BB is supposed to do but for some reason stops doing it.

It does work, I do exactly the same thing all the time.

What VERSION of BB are you running, and have you installed the latest Update file for that version? (Look under Help -> About for Version and update number).
