Guys,
Looks this old gunslinger will be playing with a new gun after all. Seems like that after my email to customer service voicing my disappointment with the "sold out" email they sent me, I was informed they found one more of the ASAT® Classic Bluesboy™ Semi-Hollow's in the warehouse and would be happy to sell it to me for the advertised price.
Feeling a little better about Hello Music tonight.

Guys,
Looks this old gunslinger will be playing with a new gun after all. Seems like that after my email to customer service voicing my disappointment with the "sold out" email they sent me, I was informed they found one more of the ASAT® Classic Bluesboy™ Semi-Hollow's in the warehouse and would be happy to sell it to me for the advertised price.

...This Hello Music seems interesting. Sometimes, the products that they feature seem like they are previous year models, discontinued models, etc. and then there are some that are straight up the middle standard models. Smaller retailers have always had to do that. The store I worked for in my youth was always on the lookout for those kind of deals from the wholesalers. Yes, the retailer is a consumer, too. The only difference here between the brick and mortar outfits of a time past is the fact that the newage retailer is more likely to have web presence. Matter of fact, there may even be a brick and mortar behind the web store, I've notice that trend happening more and more as the small retailer hustles to make the proverbial scratch. --Mac

Danny, a cautionary word to the wise here.
I would never take a "brand new to me" guitar to the gig as soon as it arrived.
For one thing, it would take away the fun of that "getting to know you" week or two, at home, exploring the thing, its sounds, its weak points and strong points as regards my playing abilities and style, working out if there are any differences in amplifier or amplifier settings needed, etc. etc. etc.
For another thing - the biggie IMO - I wouldn't do that to my audience. For what should be obvious reasons.
Don't rush it.

Other than a getting new guitar, especially a Tele as it was already on my radar I got some estimates on my vintage Gibby ES335 last month. And because the preliminary estimates (from the photos anyway) were more than I ever dreamed this guitar would be worth. So I decided to leave it in a closet and get me a new everyday gigging axe. And because of the pick-up variation on the new one I think this may be the perfect one for the multi-genre gigs I do.
I'll do my break-in over the Thanksgiving Holiday!

I'd leave the vintage ES-335 at home too. A guitar like that should only be played at home or in the studio.

I'm sort of in between the "Leave the valuable 335 at home" and "You know the 335, so that's what you should play" camp.
How many gigs have you done with the 335? I would guess many hundreds.
The neck on your new Tele-clone and the 335 are likely quite different. I find that I'm like Mac in this regard, it takes me some time before I can play comfortably on a new axe.
Case and Point: When I switched from My Peavey Milestone/Horizon, with a pretty wide and flat fretboard, to the MIM Strat that I had, It took me many weeks to accommodate AND to keep from bumping the volume knob unintentionally. I have larger than average hands and I never totally fell deeply in love with that Strat. Now, getting used to the Epiphone Nighthawk Custom reissue I now play, took me far less time. I think the neck feels wider than my Strat did, but specs say the opposite. Perhaps the fretboard is not radius'ed as much, I don't know.
The preserver of history and worry-wart in me agree with Bob, leave the 335 at home.
But I bet you can locate tone and volume knobs on the 335 without looking. You'll be looking down at the Tele for awhile, not so cool for performance.

I don't usually find a neck shape or even fingerboard width that is so bothersome to me, Scott, of course there are some I like better than others.
But in switching from a 335 type to something like that Tele, my recommendation to spend a week or two one on one with the axe has more to do with things like pups, sound, bite, treble (!) and the likes.
Someone who is used to humbuckers may just find that bridge pup to be a bit hard to tame in public.
Of course, such caveats would not apply to someone who has already spent their time with the Tele format. Then it would be more like shaking hands with an old friend again.

I play nearly 100 gigs per year and usually divide them between the Strat and the 335 so I pretty much know where everything is on each. I also play an Ibanez Artcore for some background dinner type jazz and standard gigs occasionally but the controls on the Ibanez just about mirror the Gibby.
Now I have been known to forget my speaker stands (sans Bose LI) in the other truck or even on a gig from time to time.
Any way guitar arrived yesterday, I arrived today but have a house full of company through Thanksgiving so I won't be able to set up the sound system and try out the new Tele until next week. But 1st look was one of wow if this thing plays like it looks all will be fine.
PS: I just don't like the thought of the 335 riding in the truck or even a car. I know I will take care of it while playing but n case you have not noticed the Hwys are full of idiots these days. And I'd hate to have explain to the authorities that I shot one of them just because he/she was tailgating my ES335 too closely.
