Open up the Audio Settings stuff inside RB and locate the place for ASIO drivers, "ASIO Always On" which defaults to True.
Try UNchecking that and see if your sound device will allow releasing the ASIO Sound Drivers for use with another proggie like the WMP.
Different companies' Drivers for the aftermarket soundcards behave differently to this Setting, but by all means give that a try.
