I've ordered the USB HD version of BIAB 2014 EverythingPak, and was e-mailed a link from which I could download the entire package from, ahead of the HD delivery. I didn't download the entire package because of the overall bandwidth that would be involved. I'm a patient sort and will wait for delivery of my HD. Nevertheless, I still wanted to try a few things - so I downloaded and installed the 2014 Songs and Lessons Pack. After installation, I had a desktop icon which said "Blues Piano Solos - Vol 1".

Since I want to learn some Blues Piano, I decided to check it out. I clicked on the icon and looked through the tutorial file. The Tutorial file indicated that there are Lessons available via a dropdown menu - but I can't semm to find them anywhere in this software.

Is this a misprint in the tutorial file? Or am I missing something (like perhaps there's volume 2 that needs to be installed, and I didn't download that part, or it'll come on the hard drive)?

Any help with what should and shouldn't be included with the Blues Piano Solos part of the 2014 Songs and Lesson Pack would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi newbert,

It has been awhile, and I don't currently have the Blues Piano Solos installed here, but IIRC, the Lessons are not listed in the menus across the top, but are found in the main window choices down below.

As I recall as well, the separate files can also be opened up inside Band in a Box.

Thanks, Mac. If you mean that the lessons are found in what I'd call the Tool Bar below the Windows Menu bar (and above the piano keyboard) - well, that's where I've been looking and they are not there.

No, I'm not. The "Blues Piano Solos - Vol 1" is a shortcut on the Windows desktop, so it seems to me that this is a standalone application, no? (It's part of the 2014 Song and Lessons Pack.)

However, I just tried loading BIAB first, and then clicking on the desktop icon for the Blues Solos - with the same results. Is there a way to load the solos from inside BIAB? (Keep in mind, I currently have BIAB 2012 installed - Could that be the problem?) I'm waiting for delivery of BIAB 2014.

Not a big deal if I need to wait for BIAB2014 to get this to work - as long as it will work.

I've sent off an e-mail to support about this, as well.

Thanks!

Nope - It doesn't quite look like that. If someone could explain to me how to take a screenshot and post it here, I'll do it.

Thanks.

Don't get ahead of me.

I needed to know exactly what you were doing, exactly how you perceived things to work.

By clicking on the desktop icon, you are indeed running the program standalone. That's good.

When the program opens, don't go to the menus across the top to fine out where the lessons are, look at what's in the lower window.

Those are actually the various "menu items" that you can choose from.

Try each one in turn, a very good way to get to know the program.

I use FastStone Screen Capture to get the picture.
I use Photobucket to store/upload the picture.
Then the link is posted in the message,

Mac and Danna, Thank you for your efforts - but it appears that we may have been spinning our collective figurative wheels.

As I said in an earlier post, I also e-mailed PGMusic Tech Support with this question. Within less than an hour, I got my answer! (Even amidst the current rollout of BIAB 2014 - very impressive.)

Apparently you need to have BIAB 2014 installed first (which I don't yet). Then you click on "Practice" and under "101 Riffs", you see "Blues Piano" (along with the rest of what comes with the Song and Lesson Pack). I guess that by running it standalone, you don't get the full features....

Thank you so much for your help. Between this forum and PGMusic Customer Service/Tech Support, we are indeed well cared for! Now I'm really looking forward to delivery of my BIAB2014 HD - because I need all the practice that I can get!

>>>...I no longer have the blues piano installed but I have the latin piano program..I believe they looked and worked the same way...>>>

Nope. There are a few diferent blues Piano programs. The one that looks like "The Latin Pianist," pictured above, is called 'The Blues Pianist. There are also 'The Pianist", 'The Modern Jazz Pianist" and a couple others, with similar look and feel.

The 'Master' programs have names like 'Beginning Piano Master Class" 'Master Flatpick Guitar' and so on. They all have a fancier look and feel, with more controls aimed at breaking the songs down and learning.

There was at least one 'Blues Piano' program that played as BiaB files as well as stand-alone. I have had it for a long time, in my BB folder. Cant figure out why I cant find it now...

I found the files. They are in the C:BB:BPiano folder. I beleive they installed to my BB folder automatically when I installed the stand-alone program to my C: drive.

Oh. Well.

The '101 Riffs' series is a whole NOTHER set of teaching tools. I am pretty sure these show up as a folder full of songs in your C:/BB folder. You will get several more folders of songs, all teaching 101 riffs for various uses. These do not run standalone.

Let me know if am wrong about this.

I don't have BIAB2014 installed yet. But, according to the e-mail I received from Tech Support, all of the "101 Riffs" show up in a separate menu window after you click on "Lessons" in BIAB2014. I don't know exactly where the files show up in the folder/file structure of the OS.

So, I'm patiently waiting for my BIAB2014 USB HD to show up to see exactly how this works. I don't want to install anymore files (from download) piecemeal. The whole shebang is a bit too large for me to download.

Well, shut my mouth. They do indeed show up in the 'Practice' window, along with a whole lot of other lesson-related stuff. Actually I had seen this before from a few versions ago. I am in the habit on searching through Windows folders to find stuff. I am just kind of old-school that way.

Excellent. Glad to hear that it's working correctly from within BIAB2014. It's just strange that the "Lessons" part of the package isn't available when running it as a standalone from the Desktop shortcut icon. As far as I can tell, only the sample songs are available when accessed that way.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
