Hello All,
In BB 2014, is it now possible to mute/unmute the instrument parts on the main screen or the mixer, and have the settings saved?

Not at my computer but I think I tested this, and it has not changed. The workaround I use is to lower the instrument's volume to zero then save.

Percy, the Mute buttons on the Mixer are for use when working with the program, but not designed for Saving Muted Tracks.
But we can Mute Tracks and Save them that way by pressing F5 and using the Settings in there, those will Save with the Songfile.
If the Mixer Mute buttons were changed to save that way, then we would not have the option to use them in a Temporary fashion and that wouldn't be good. For example, I often will Mute a Track just for the purpose of Practicing, first playing along with a RealTrack file on that part, then Muting it to practice the same part as "just me" along with the Band in the Box.
F5.
Mute the Track.
Save.
Then it Sticks.
Works a treat.

Muted instruments are not intended to save with the song. So that if you mute bass, then bass should be muted for the whole session.
If you don't want bass in a song, you should disable the track instead. Dbl click on the 'bass' track radio button, and from the menu, choose track is enabled = NO. Then the bass track will look 'grey' to indicate that it is disabled.

Thanks for your help. Even as a long-time BB user, I have been totally unaware of the disable tracks function
that Peter mentioned. in replying to my question.

One neat thing about BB is that there is always another way to skin the cat.
Appears my methodology here is a bit dated.
Peter's advice sounds "mo' bettuh" - I think it is a New Feature, or at least an old feature that is now MUCH easier to find and execute. That's cool.
Now all I gotta do is reprogram this old brain about that...
