Are you saying that what Noel96 told you above did not work to eliminate the BEEP?
--Mac It didnt work, Mac, because the box is already unchecked, like in Noels screenshot example. The "beep" comes each time I boot up BIAB and is synchronous (I LIKE that word!)with the GUI appearing. Its the same beep sound from the PC tower that you get when you boot up the PC for the first time and Windows XP kicks in. No beep comes from my monitors - its only emanating from the PC tower. Its just annoying, thats all. cheers ian

Are you hearing the same kind of beep as when you do a power up of the PC? The POST?

While it is often possible to turn of the POST beep in the bios, I do not recommend doing so, especially on a machine of that vintage, for there could come a day when it does not boot up and the only way to find out why would be via those Post Beep Codes.
Just live with it.

Hi Ian, Mac mentioned the Windows system sounds in above post. As Mac and Matt have already pointed out, what you have happening doesn't sound like these system sounds, but it's something to double-check (just to make sure).  I have Vista and I got to this menu by right-click on the speaker icon. I can't remember where it is on XP. Once in these settings, though, try choosing the "No Sounds" sound scheme. Regards, Noel

That's pretty much how it looks on XP too.
And I have it as No Sounds like you.
The beep is in the PC tower not as part of Windows sounds suite.
Tis a mystery and I guess I'll live with it.
My puzzle was that it only happened after 2014 install and its subsequent move from \PROGRAM FILES to C:\bb.

I'd unplug the speaker in the tower (unless it is one of those little beggers on the motherboard) so if I needed it someday for the POST code(s) I could plug it back in.
