How do I make my desktop BIAB screen look like this? Screenshot taken from our own PG website. Here the GUI bits and bobs only take up 25% of the screen. The icons look smaller etc etc. Compare this to my Reality - So the question is – how do I compress the top section to look like the PG example? Any ideas? Ian

Hi Ian, I maybe guessing here but I would bet it is the resolution of your monitor. Try a higher resolution and see what happens

Yes, you would need to increase the vertical resolution of your display, if it isn't already at max.

I found the same thing to be the case when beta testing on an XP machine here.
You can indeed change your Screen Settings in Control Panel -> Display of Windows, but I didn't like that global approach because everything else on the same machine got so tiny.
After a bit, though, I did find that working with BB on that machine isn't so bad, I could get work done once the shock of something new and different from before wore off a bit.
I still would like to see a way to change things about that.
We've been promised the ctrl-t in a future update file, that at least would allow for putting the Chord Sheet at fullscreen when desirable.

It's strictly the screen resolution. You have yours set at something like 1024X768. PG's screen resolution is something like 1660 or even 1920. Those much higher resolutions are for 30 year old's with perfect eyesight. If you set your monitor that high then sure, the top half is now 25% of the screen but you won't be able to see a thing.
I've complained about this enough in a half dozen threads. It needs to be fixed and hopefully soon.

Bob I've gone to 1360 x 1024 and that DOES make a difference and allows more lines for chords. As the peepers slowly fail (I hope not!!) I can wind back to 1024 I guess OR once I get used to the new GUI I can do that too. Thanks for the info. cheers ian

There's a lot of talk about this, it looks like something is coming and we'll be happy.
Have you read the other thread talking about how you can go into Preferences>Options>Display and use Custom to fix the number of lines and change the font size so the chord symbols are bigger? If you haven't, check that out it does help.

Greetings Good people, Is it possible to customize the new GUI? For example, I do not need to know the specifics of a style and it seems this area takes a lot of valuable screen space.
Additionally, is it possible to move the menu buttons to a different location? For example, can I move the transport buttons or the file buttons to another area (within the confines of the menu screen and toolbar of course.)
Is resizing of a toolbar possible?
I assume from the >> to the right on a toolbar I am able to add/subtract menu buttons within a toolbar. Is it possible to create a toolbar with the items I will prefer or am I limited to a toolbar with items within a category?
Thanks for any replies!
Happy Musiking! Dennis

Dennis, you haven't read this whole thread?
Yes, they're working on it, a patch is coming.
No, we don't know when it's coming or what that patch will do. I would guess it will be sooner rather than later but we're just users, no inside info here.
Stay tuned.

Ian You do realise of course that the top picture you posted has a mirror image of the screen for artistic effect. If you take away the mirrored portion then even PG music's screen menu takes up about 40% of the screen. Kevin

Thanks jazzmammal. I thought I read the whole thread. At least everything showing on my screen. It's mainly about screen resolution fixes from what I can see. Maybe something is not coming through though.
I saw in your post above mine you had mentioned another thread, but I have no clue which it is. If I can find time I'll go look.
None the less, thank you for the info you have given. Much appreciated.
The change of GUI is actually the only new feature I find worth upgrading for and to be honest, for my purposes, is a bit disappointing. But then I'm really not sure why all the fuss about a creating a new GUI to begin with. I know it is a much wanted feature and important to many people.
Still, since PG did it I just wanted to know something of it to confirm a worthwhile investment, or not.
Thanks again!
Happy Musiking! Dennis

Bob
I started this thread and can confirm that Noels suggestion DOES help as does changing the screen resolution (if you can live with its other effects on other bits of your PC. Fiddle around with the line count, Font type and sizing until you get something that seems better to you. I think that it will all be for nought anyway soon. If I read between the lines, much Midnight Oil is being burned in doing a genuine PG fix for it. cheers] ian

I bought a new Dell 23" LED monitor just before 2014 arrived. Impulse buy, but only $160 so what the heck. 2014 looks GREAT on it. Not sure it will exactly duplicate the reference image, but it's pretty darn impressive, even on these tired old eyes.

Yeah, the solution to larger resolution settings (for many) is a larger screen. Not a good solution for laptop or pad users though.
Looks great on my larger screens, but the laptop (with limited resolution) suffers.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
