I have 2014 installed on the c drive. I haven't received the actual program yet. I just had the DLs.My c drive is 97% full. Not good. I deleted all of the 2014 installer files from the DL.No big deal. new drive coming from PG.I bought a 2TB external drive today and want to move 2014 ontu it.I could wait until the PG usb drive comes and just install it on the new 2 TB drive but was wondering how I can move it now.

addendum. I actually only want to move the RTs & RDs leaving the progs on C.This will free up enough space to make my c drive only 40% full. Better.Just ran defraggler. My c drive has 17% free. That's not to bad as I won't be putting more on it.

You can copy the entire RealTracks AND RealDrums folders over to the USB drive, just keep the main folder names the same, easy enough if you just drag 'em and wait for the copy to happen.
Don't forget to visit the RealTracks and the RealDrums settings inside the two programs, use the Browse feature point to where the Real folders are now. Done.
Then delete the two folders on the C drive - and run Defraggler again on it.
Another thing in Defraggler that often goes unobserved, at least judging from what I've seen folks do or not do, is the "Boot Time Defrag" found in the second of the three Defraggler menus. Worth doing including the Reboot Now selection, as that can make for clearing up the sluggish loading of Windoze a bit. I always first run Defraggler on the C drive though, to clean up the diskspace before doing the Boot Time dance.

Once you've copied all the audio files to another drive, delete the audio files, but not the folder. Then run Preferences, RealTracks to indicate where the audio files are now. The short text file with the path to the new location will be created.
Also, I don't know if this is essential, but I recall getting advice from PG Music when I first decided to put my RealTracks and RealDrums on another drive. I was told to set up the same directory structure as on my boot drive. I use G:/bb/RealTracks and G:/bb/RealDrums

I did this setup years ago, when I first realized I was going to run out of space on my boot drive. The audiophile version will do that to you.

FWIW, I don't think I did that, and it still worked at the time.
I don't install BB to C drive anymore, so can't readily check it out now.
My memory, though, could go either way on that, I hope PG checks in on this one soon.

well I'm copying the Drums and Real Tracks folder to the other drive in a bb folder. I will then rename the Drums & Realtracks folder on the c drive to old and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'll then create an empty Drums and Real Tracks folder on c and see what happens.

BUT I'm having other issues. Seems to be how things go.
All of my songs used to be on one of the little 160 gig usb drives.No issues. I moved all of the songs to the new drive. The new drive is in a USB 2.0 port.They will not play from this drive with any reliability.The scroll stops and the music starts to stutter. WDM. Same issue with older version of PTs.Messing around with some buffer settings helps a whole lot but it's sort of a sytematic fix. if I load the same tune onto the c drive it's fine with out any changes to settings. This is not a big deal as the songs are really only being stored on the new drive. If I want to change something I can load it onto the c and resave to the e.I just don't like crap like this. The little drive is fine the new drive is not. WTF

There are two things that can cause that, John. First one is your machine's USB capabilities and driver. May or may not be solvable, but worth checking out the mfr's website support section for your mobo and looking for a BIOS flash upgrade. Then look for a newer USB driver as well. The second issue may have to do with the program you are using to open up the WAV files. If, for example, you are loading multitracked wav files into a multitracking DAW program, sometimes having all those wav files in a nice contiguous piece of disk space can cause the halting and sputtering. The free "Interleave" proggie may help. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Other-AUDIO-Tools/Interleave.shtml%26quot;%3E%3Cimg Try the proggie first, may solve the problem without resorting to the pains and dangers of flashing the BIOS. If you do have to resort to BIOS flash, do like I do and power the puter from a good known working UPS so that a power failure or bump on the AC line doesn't take out the mobo (!). --Mac

I used to use that prog many years ago. Just wondering why this is only an issue on this new drive. The old drive was fine. Same USB port. The internal drive is fine but I'd sort of expect that. Now the new Drive is a USB 3.0/2.0. has the new 3.0 cable but they say it's backward compatible.Not going to fret over it as the songs are just in storage ther as just another backup.RB & Biab are much better acting now the c drive is way empty.There is a firmware update for this drive that I'll try tomorrow. had a gig tonight. One tomorrow and one Tuesday & Wednesday.Three different bands. Glad I learned early on how to write and read charts. So I'm sort of busy anyway.

...The old drive was fine. Same USB port. Then forget what I said above entirely. Finger points only at new drive then. I did recently have to open up a near new external drive to investigate for a doctor friend I sometimes consult for about his office computer mess. This was one of the el cheapo offbrands, "USB3" all over the outside of the box. And the connect circuits inside the little thing really are. But the 500gb disk they stuck in there was one of the slowest ATA 5400s imaginable. If you get the time, John, you may want to pop the case, read the mfr and mod number off of the drive itself and do some web investigation. Depedning on brand, there also may be a way to contact actual drive mfr and get a replacement sent under warranty... --Mac

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums).
