As many of you know, I am USAF Headquarter Band alumnus (Academy).

Here we have today's USAF HDQTRS Concert Band, Singers and Strolling Strings pulling a Christmas Flash Mob miniconcert at the National Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian.

Strong Performance.

Great post Mac!

Just FYI I too am an Air Force alumnus and while I did not play with the "Review in Blue" I did back a few strippers, along with a saxophonist and drummer (played a lot of Night Train man) at the Ace of Clubs in Biloxi while I was at Kessler Field.:>

I'm also a veteran of the AF Band program. In my early AF days I was stationed at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. I used to play piano with a sax player and drummer at a strip club in downtown Honolulu. Since I'm of Asian descent, the powers that be thought I was a local guy. Military personnel weren't allowed to play civilian gigs in those days. It was a great experience. Later, Ray

Ray,

I was not supposed to be playing local gigs either, especially in a club that was "off limits" so I used the "I did not know that answer" when caught and we both know how far that went in the military. Job over!

The 70s, used to plop dat Jimi Hendrix afro wig on my head, dress like a 60s fool, and, with the Dick Tracy Disquise kt in place, head downtown and gig. We all did.

There's recordings out there somewhere with moosicians in the bandlist with names like, "Les Moore" "Satchimo Feldstein" even "John Carson"...

In the early 70's I remember donating some money to a legal fund for 3 Army musicians seeking to overturn the ban on military musicians playing in town. Bob Roetger, a longtime forum member, was one of those Army musicians. The lawsuit was won and we were able to play civilian gigs. This happened in Hampton, VA. Later, Ray

Mac,
Thanks for posting this. I'd heard that it occurred but had not seen the video yet. Living in the DC area, I often get the privilege to see the military bands play but I particularly favor the USAF bands being and Air Force retiree. I also have a close friend who was a USAF band leader. To see them at the National Air and Space Museum is also special since I'm a space geek.
Very cool! Thanks again.
