I want to say thanks for the great new features in 2014. My first reaction to the new GUI was… oh no they just polished the old vs. perhaps a completely new look. But then I used it for a week and realized, it is much more usable, which was I believe was their goal. There is more room for simplifying but appreciate what they have done. Things I really like:1. Real-time style, RT, RD preview! Not only has this save a lot of time but I have finally discovered some very good styles from years past. 2. Toolbars by function (finally all those buttons makes a lot more sense now) 3. Mixer always shows. This is another time saver for someone who uses BAIB as a song writing tool 4. “Real string quartet” wins the “why on earth did they not do this years ago award!” Can you imagine if we got orchestra sections as RTs? 5. Drag now auto creates the correct wave file (Mono/stereo) yeah! 6. Drag zone has 4 options ( so I don’t have to remember control left shift elbow anymore ) 7. Piano keyboard in a tab and per instrument (Now it is only there when you need it) 8. UserTracks (just testing so far, and working on a help video) but this has great potential for the customer base to expand BIAB inter-releases. Issues still there/new: (all already reported to support)1. Dragging a MIDI track still adds two bar count in. ( even with include 2 bar lead-in ) turned off in render page and preferences 2. Guitar Window always opens (collapsed) need to always stretch it out to see guitar neck. ( does not remember dimensions) This only happens on the 2nd screen 3. Sample tank MST frequently does not render to full song length. (drop as wave) 4. Normalize wave file setting does not appear to work if you are dropping separate tracks. 5. Small GUI error with solo button not turning yellow on initial solo of a track from header area. Wish they would have: (Feature Requests)1. Added the ability to assign our own hot keys ( so we could match them up with the DAW we are using along side BIAB) 2. Tempo stamped the exported wave files to save time when dragging to DAW 3. Let us choose which icons and even icon bars to display with option for small icon/no text. 4. Added option to auto filter the RT and RT style picking windows based on the track your on ( i.e. bass , piano, guitar) 5. Made the “Play loop” button have a default like the new Styles Button I.E( play section) 6. Allow a modifier key on solo to solo more than one track together (tip the master mute will un-mute all muted tracks) 7. Made the start up screen (screen 2) remembered Again Thanks
Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).

Hi,
Thanks of the great post. I will look into those items on the wish list.
By "tempo stamp the wave files," I assume you mean to write acid headers?

Hi,
Thanks of the great post. I will look into those items on the wish list.
By "tempo stamp the wave files," I assume you mean to write acid headers? Yes It saves the time of telling the DAW what the original tempo/BPM of each track is. I do all my fine tuning of the final tempo map in the DAW to create a real feel to the over all song and to do that stretching the DAW has to know what was the original BPM of the recording. Currently Studio One does not determine the tempo of am un marked wave file. Thanks

Time stamped or Broadcast wave format contains meta data that most DAWS can import and place the wave file in the proper location and tempo as well as other info. This format allows sharing files across different platforms. Brian

Thanks Brian, Regarding that Boradcast Wave format (described here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_Wave_Format ) - Do you know specifically if DAWS read things other than the tempo, such as root note, time sig, loop points (as are found in the ACID format)?

In addition to the specification of the BWF files, the EBU has recommended – in EBU docu- ment R85 [4] – the audio content of BWF files when they are used for the exchange of pro- gramme material without prior consent. The phrase “without prior consent” means that EBU Members will normally accept such material. For instance, document R85 recommends a sampling frequency of 48 kHz. If the receiving organization is willing to accept material which has been sampled at 44.1 kHz, this can still be supplied as a valid BWF file but only after this has been mutually agreed https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/techreview/trev_274-chalmers.pdf

To my knowledge Peter the most useful parameter is when you import a time stamped wave file is that it loads into the proper bar location and tempo. I suspect this format is most useful when several folks are working on the same song with different platforms and or DAWS. Here is what my Sonar X3 manual says about how they use it. Broadcast Wave files Broadcast Wave files are wave files with some additional information stored in them. Broadcast Wave files have the following information: • Description. A brief description of the contents of the Broadcast wave. Limited to 256 characters. • Originator. The author of the Broadcast wave. This information is taken from the Author field in the “File Info dialog” on page 1736. • Originator Reference. A unique reference identifier created by SONAR. • Origination Date. The date the file was created. • Origination Time. The time the file was created. • Time Reference. The SMPTE time stamp for the beginning of broadcast wave.

The correct placement of a clip in a DAW is something that has always been challenging. I'm not saying this has anything to do with BIAB. It's just that more than a few times, I've had to hunt many minutes ahead to find the start of a clip, then drag it back to the beginning. What Brian described is the way I learned it.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

To get back to the question regarding the OP. 2. Tempo stamped the exported wave files to save time when dragging to DAW all that is missing is the original tempo to make the track adhere to further tempo changes in the receiving DAW. (for example Studio One, Sonar or Reaper) It's not that hard to retype the tempo in for each track exported but to have the tempo in the header would speed things up and eliminate confusion that many people get when trying to further adjust tempos in the DAW. Also it would nice to see issues 2,3,4 fixed soon. Thanks

Every one of these have been reported and confirmed by the developers and effect my workflow. The BPM stamp in the file header would also greatly help as the DAW will not change the tempo correctly without the Tempo for the file being known. Since BIAB just wrote it it makes sense to mark the tempo in the file. Thanks

All good points, I hope that the add/remove icons ability will be added soon.
I understood that all this was a work in progress in early December, so maybe an update patch will address most of the stuff you mention soon.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound!
