Hi Rich and Shirley-louise For me its got to the trad version. I'm a sucker for Joseph Adame's original. Well put together and well sung too. Cheers Ian

Hi RichMac,
This is well assembled. Congratulations.
I would love to hear Shirley-Louise's vocals brought a little more forward. She has a beautiful soprano voice that has elements of mezzo soprano. She sounds great. I'm sure you've experimented with it, but now that you have Shirley-Louise's vocals, why not try putting it in a Praise And Worship style. It could be very interesting.
This is a great song.
May joy and peace come your way, Noel

Hi Richard,
that RT version is very experimental and funny. But your first version delivers the Christmas feeling. Here the vocals could be louder. I'm going to eat some ginger bread now.

Richard, I vote for the first version. The vocal is sung very well. I also would bring it more upfront. I also noticed a lot of hiss in the beginning. Maybe use a noise gate. It was put together well. Good job. Tom

Thanks Ian. That orchestral style was the closest i could find. Have a great midi orchestral arraingment done by goodness knows who but it's not BIAB or RT (or original) so didn't use it.
Thank you Noel and i agree the vocals should stand out more. Shirley-Louise hasn't sung much for a few years now but wanted to try a christmas song on the internet. I got a bit silly with the RT version but couldn't find anything that appealed in the Praise and Worship styles. Shall have to keep thinking about accompaniments for her.
Yes Scott as we get older we appreciate Christmas more and more.
Danny. Shirley Louise's first song on the internet so she's quite pleased with orchestral version. Hates the other one.
Guenter. Ginger bread. Yum! Am afraid I got carried away with the RT version trying to make the vocal stand out more.
Tom. Thanks for checking and your comments. i've been learning about noise gates and will look into the use thereof.

The first shows her voice and is more traditional BUT I do like what you were trying to do with the 2nd. I feel her voice needs to be more to the front in both good work tho'

Hey Rich,
I love to experiment with RTs myself - it's fun.
In this case, I like Shirley Louise's soprano voice with the first arrangement - the more traditional suits her vocal style - especially when she hits those glorious high notes - gotta be orchestra for me.

Thanks to Alyn Floyd and Josie. I value your comments and opinions. Would like to try writing something for SL. Something light but not silly. Maybe later! Cheers!

as I write this, I haven't heard the RT version yet... in fact I'm still listening to the first version.
This is one of my favorite carols, and your lovely wife did an outstanding job singing the melody (not an easy song to sing with those high notes, but she nailed 'em!)
Your intro mentioned harp, but I couldn't hear anything in the backing except the strings. My only observation would be to lower the strings until you can hear the harp, which would also serve to bring Shirley Louise's vocals forward.
Now I'm going to listen to your 2nd version...

Lead Vocal = Portrait
Background Instruments = Background of Portrait and Picture Frame
The version with String accompaniment has the Strings more upfront than the Vocalist. Recommend Remix, bring the "Portrait" out of the "Background and Frame".
2nd version, works much better for me simply because the backing tracks are behind the Singer making the Singer. Up. Front.

As others have mentioned, you can't beat vocals front and center. Classic! And I can't listen to the tuba in the second version without thinking of Veggietales. I'd love to hear that with the new Pop Strings and a touch of reverb!

Hi Richard I like the second one too and it would come even more to life even more when the vocals are more forward. Well sung to Shirley-Lousie.
