Have an issue that just starting happening. When I load a song file and try to change the instrument (like soloist, Guitar etc.) I get an access violation error at 00bE24E7 in module bbw.exe.

I tried resetting default still same error. Then I updated to latest build and still same error.

The song will regenerate and play as originally saved but I can't access the instruments with out getting the error.

If I start BB fresh and don't load a song file I can access the instruments and create a new song, so it seems to be in the song files. Up until tonight all songs loaded fine and I haven't changed them since the last time they played fine. Now they don't and I haven't changed anything on the computer except connect a second monitor for DAW (Reaper)which didn't require loading drivers or anything else. Any thoughts?

Hi Jeff,

*Is this referencing the new BB2014 or an older version? In either case, please also give the Build Number, found under Help -> About. Build number will be in parentheses.

*Are the Tracks Frozen?

BIAB 2014 started after the first update to 2014 (however it was working fine with that update up until tonight). I updated to 379 and it still continued. I took the extra monitor off the system just to make sure that wasn't in some weird way causing it and still same result.

I was able to load the song in realband 2014 and had no issues being able to access the instruments and generate new tracks. I didn't "save as" from realband because i wanted to recheck in BIAB. Still had the access violation in BIAB. I will try to "save as" from realband and see if that doesn't work. Problem is it's happening to most of my created songs and the few songs I tried to load from 50 biab songs folder also. I haven't checked every file as of yet. It will be very tedious to resave all the songs from realband.

Did you install BIAB to the /Program Files folder (either one, if 64-bit Windows)? If so, delete the folder and reinstall, accepting the default path of c:/bb

BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

My original installation was BIAB 2012 everything. Windows 7 64 bit. The installation is on my second drive F:/bb and has not changed or moved. I installed the 2014 version right over the original in F:/bb. Everything was working fine after that. I was able to create and edit multiple song files. All were originally "saved as" and later played back several times when I rehearsed.

The song that first showed up with the error did have frozen tracks but after getting the error I unfroze them and did several restarts, reset to factory defaults, and updated to latest build. After that I tried opening different songs and got the same error when right clicking on the instrument tracks. As I said earlier the error only occurs when trying to edit instrument tracks on already saved songs. I can still create and edit a new file that hasn't been saved.

Matt, just so I'm clear on your suggestion you want me to delete the whole "bb" folder on my F drive and reinstall it back on my F drive? "F:/bb" That's where my installation is.

Upon further tinkering I believe I solved the problem but I don't understand why it occured in the first place.

On a fresh start of BIAB I loaded the song, unchecked freeze all tracks and then saved as in another folder other than where the majority of my songs are saved. I was then able to open it from that location and edit to my hearts content. I then saved the file under a new name in my song folder and I can now edit just fine.

I'm happy it's fixed but I don't understand why it happened in the first place. It seemed to be a corrupted song file but it didn't behave that way. I was able to edit it in realband without issue. Also once the error presented its self by opening the corrupted file all subsequent files that were opened suffered the same error. A clean computer restart would solve the issue of the other song files as long as I didn't open the corrupt one. Once I opened the corrupted file though it affected every song.

Hopefully the issue is resolved and doesn't return and I can breathe easier. I really thought I was gonna loose all my work on this song. I am perhaps considering keeping a separate folder with master saves in case this happens again just for some redundancy.

Oh my, No.

What I had said was that BIAB will not work correctly if installed to the /Program Files folder. This is normally on the C (boot) drive.

That is what I originally thought so that is the reason I wanted clarification. I haven't altered anything and wasn't going to unless directed to specifically do so. I don't normally post but have watched the forum for a couple years and remember reading that BIAB wont work in the windows programs folder hence the question and hesitation. I tried all the usual fixes before posting as most issues are solved by doing so.

This one will go in the books as I'm not sure why it's happening but here is another thing to try before panicking. Thanks for all the input.

Good move to wait for clarification, Jeff.

In BIAB 2014 I sometimes get "access violation" *only* when right-clicking on the instrument or mixer...?
Left-clicking works OK, like regenerating the song.

Anybody heard of this behaviour before?
