Old style VUs in a separate window are not needed anymore with the new GUI, there are two permanently displayed VU meters for Master at the bottom of the new Mixer, as well as the fact that we now have a separate VU for each Track located to the left of each Track's Volume Fader. Mixing without adding distortions or not knowing the actual and real Audio levels has never been easier. The VU meters all show the Green, Yellow, Red indications, keep them all in the Yellow and the Audio clarity is safe. If the song is one of the "pressure cooker" genres, going into the Red a bit won't create the old nasty stuff either, that's due to the 32-bit audio engine which was implemented in BB some versions back.

Best of all worlds for VU in the new GUI.

Also, I vaguely remember a post from last week concerning the little arrows allowing users to add/delete icons of the various tool bars. Wasn't this going to be addressed in the latest update # 379.?

As I understand it, this is indeed on the development "todo" list, but I don't think anybody promised same to be in Build 379 or any other prediction as to exact build number. Good idea to keep checking in on the Updates page whenever a New Release is issued, though, at least through end of January and even afterwards. Keep your BB up to date and eliminate possible frustrations before they might happen to you, as well as having all available Features, well, available and working as advertised.

Lastly, I enjoyed the ear training games. What's happened to all this stuff?

They are still available.

Look under the "Window" menu, the Ear Trainer and the Practice Window commands are located there, or you can use the Keyboard Shortcuts listed for them as well.

Pitch Invasion Game, Music Replay Game as well as the Ear Trainer are available as buttons in the Practice Window.

Have Fun,
