Hi ALL. It's been a long time since I have posted here, but do stop by often to read the new posts and try to keep up on whats new. But have a new prob that I need help with again. Well, guess you could say "an old prob again" as back when I fisrt started to use PTPA. Just built a new computer and installed my PTPA 11 and Audiophile 2496 card but cant get them working together. I know it's in the settings but have tried every option I can think of and find, and still no luck. Everything checks out fine in device manager. Just dont remember how it was all configured on my old computer to be able to duplicate the settings. To give you a run down on the new system....Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mobo 1066 FSB, Intel Q6600 quad core 2.4 Ghz processor, 4 gigs (2x2 GB) Kingston P2-8500 DDR2 ram at 1066 Mhz, 2x Seagate 500 GB 32 MB cache SATA-II HDD's, 2x Lite-on SATA DVD/RW's, ATI Radeon 9000 video driving dual monitors, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard running Windows XP professional SP-3. I have also downloaded ASIO4ALL onto this machine, and no luck running it also. Can't even get any audio input indication on VU meters in PTPA nor the 2496 control panel. I am using a Yamaha PSR-550 keyboard both audio and or midi to the 2496 card. So here I am Lost Again, LOL!! And as always, help is much appreciated !! Thanks, Larry

Nothing on the 2496 panel? Are input channels muted? Does it show up as an input/output driver anywhere?

DoubleClick the Delta icon in the taskbar by the clock.
Hit the Patchbay/Router tab up top.
Then select "Monitor Mix" under the Hardware 1/2 column.
Now hit the Monitor Mixer tab and make sure that Stereo Link is selected in all fader columns and that none are muted.
Turn the Master Faders all the way up.
Turn WaveOut 1/2 Faders all the way up.
Turn Hardware 1/2 Faders all the way up.
Hit the Hardware Settings Tab.
Set Master Clock to Internal XTAL.
Set codec sample rate to 44.1 -- BUT -- do not check the two options below, "Rate Locked" or "Reset Rate when Idle" -- leave them unchecked.
Multitrack Driver Devices should be set to "Single and In Sync".
DMA buffer size is a trial and error situation, finding the lowest buffer before pops and clicks in the audio occur, start with 256. Mine is set to 128, which is a good tradeoff between fast speed and low latency and where the pops and clicks occur on this machine. Yours may differ, not a kill.
Leave the thing under ASIO Options UNchecked.
No checks in Input Channel Phase either.
Do all the above with any host programs completely closed down, then open the host and visit the Audio preferences, select the physical hardware ports for ASIO audio input and output. Also check off "ASIO Always On" in pgmusic products. Just leave the quality setting at Good or Better. Best doesn't seem to make much difference actually here.
Good luck,
--Mac

Hi Silvertones The only 2 mixer inputs that are muted are the WavOut S/PDIF an H/W In S/PDIF (which I am not using S/PDIF) and the others including Master Volume are all set to Stereo Link and Solo with gains all the way up. Audio drivers are set to Audio Input--M-Audio Delta AP 1/2....Audio Output--M-Audio Delta AP 1/2. Also using MME at this time in PTPA.

Check that all important "Monitor Mix" checkbox.
Matter of fact, go down my entire checklist, I took it from my setup which works fine with pgmusic programs daily, XP SP3 and the Delta drivers are version 5.10.00.5057
I'm intentionally using an older driver version because the latest and greatest with the eye candy does not function properly on the Consumer/Pro level settings. Contacted M-Audio directly and they had no want to fix that, simply telling me to revert back to the older drivers. So I did.

Yes, PTPA is a host program, as would be any music program that must address the soundcard. Close them all and then adjust the Delta Control Panel settings.

Mac, I closed the app and went thru all your settings and still have no VU indication on neither Delta panel nor PTPA's VU's However I can hear my PSR-550 just fine coming thru the 2496 output.

Try resetting PTPA to factory: Quote:
89. How can I return PowerTracks Pro Audio to the factory settings?
PowerTracks Pro Audio 11 uses the files listed below for configuration. If you want to restore PowerTracks to the factory settings, you can delete or rename these files. The next time you launch PowerTracks, new configuration files will be created. This can help solve or troubleshoot odd and unexplainable problems you are having with the program. The files are found in the root PowerTracks folder, usually C:\pt. Important: You must have PowerTracks closed when you do this.
We recommend renaming the files (rather than deleting them) or saving a copy of them somewhere else on your hard drive so that you have a backup of your old configuration. For example, you could rename ptw.ini to ptw.old. Later, if you find that you need to restore your previous settings, you can delete the new ptw.ini file that PowerTracks will have created, and rename ptw.old to ptw.ini
Note: Some people have trouble finding the files because Windows hides file extensions. In any folder on your computer, go to the Tools menu and click on Folder Options, then click on the View tab and make sure 'Hide extensions for known file types' is unchecked. On Windows 98/ME, the Folder Options item is found under the View menu.
ptw.ini. This file contains most of the global PowerTracks settings, especially the settings in the Options | Preferences and Options | MIDI Devices dialogs. It also has a list of the most recently accessed song files.
ptpa.cfg. This file contains information about your sound card
The two files above contain most of your program settings; it is usually only necessary to delete those two files.

Mac why do you use Mon Mix, rather than the other option?

Because the Delta cards have a built in hardware monitor mixer. Zero latency. Plus, it acts like the "What U Hear" setting on a Creative card, allowing the recording of anything the puter is playing back on the wav bus.

OK Mac, Reset PTPA to factory settings per the inst. you included in your last post to me by re-naming the ptw.ini file and the PTPA.conf file and re-started comp. and re-opened PTPA. Then went thru all your previous settings as before. Now when I play on my keyboard I still hear it fine on the 2496 cards output and now can also see the notes as I play them on PTPA's on screen keyboard (which before did not show). But....Still no VU indication on PTPA's VU's and still none on 2496's mixer control panel screen. Hmmmm!?!?

What are you attempting to use for the MIDI output synth?

I just unhooked all my MIDI output hardware, opened up a copy of PT 11 and duplicated your situation here.
Got it so that the VSC was selected, but could only see the notes on the MIDI keyboard as I played, but could hear nothing.
Here's how I got it to work for me:
Options -> MIDI Devices and checked Rerout to DXi, then made sure VSC DXi was selected in the dropdown window.
Preferences -< Audio and made sure that "Enable Input Monitoring" is checked on the RH top of the window. Then selected ASIO drivers (M-Audio Delta ASIO).
Be sure to check, "ASIO always on" while in that window.
HIt Okay and you should be able to play the VSC DXi in realtime and hear it while the onboard piano keys indicate which keys you are playing. Hit the VU meter icon and you should see activity on BOTH the Input and Output side as you play.
Select the first available track in Tracks View, then RightClick below the trackname area, select "DXi synth 1". Leave the track selected (number turns red).

Hey Mac---"You Da Man !!" Again! That did it !! All seems to work like it should again!
I want to THANK YOU for going the extra mile and to all that work to figure out what was going on with my set-up. Now I'm sure I am going to like this new machine much more so than my old comp. which was so not made to do this kind of work. PTPA and BIAB was really struggling on the old comp.(97% CPU usage) So far have not seen cpu go over 8 or 9% yet, but haven't really tried to do much yet with it. I'm sure it will go up as I get into some real projects.
Thanks Again, Mac.
