How do I change upper midi patches in RealBand? I know how to do this in BIAB, but can't find the patch names for the Ketron's instruments. (I've edited the patches.ini for my Ketron SD2 and am good to go there.) I tried the Patch Select dialog, but I don't see the Ketron patches listed, nor do I see the instruments. Yet, the .mgu file I imported from BIAB is playing the correct Ketron patch instrument (jazz tenor sax, 67:1). Help?

If Patches.INI is in Realband folder, and Patches.bin reports as having rebuilt .. then it's a matter of deciphering the Right-Click - Patch Select Dialogue menu .. pay attention to the 'Variations' selections here.
The drop down menu in the Patch Select Dialogue will allow selecting the Ketron patch list if it is available.
If it is not available; make sure your Patches.INI file is the correct Ketron file in your Realband folder. Right-click Patches.INI and look at it (Edit) to see if the Ketron patches are listed. If so; Rename Patches.bin to PatchesOld.bin.
Restart Realband and it should report that Patches.bin has been rebuilt, and the Ketron selection should then be available in the Patch Select Dialogue drop down menu.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I have tried dropping both the SD2 and SD4 .ini files into the RealBand folder, along with changing the original file to dot old.
When reopening RB, I get no message.
Same happens with another guy's machine and RB2014, when I tried to talk him thru it over the phone.
I was running XP at the time, he is running Win7.
Something's not working right, or I'm not doing something right.
For the record, I've been doing exactly the way rharv describes it up there.

Thanks rharv. I renamed the 2014 patches.ini to patches.oldini, and placed the Ketron SD2.ini (whatever the true filename is called) in the RealBand directory. I launched RealBand, but did not see anything about a rebuild.
I'll rename the current patches.bin file and try again.
Note: I renamed the bin file and relaunched RealBand. I got the rebuild message, and was successful in seeing the instrument names in the higher level midi. Success!

Yeah, the key is having the Patches.bin turn up missing so RB uses the new Patches.ini to recompile it ..
I should have been more clear that the .bin file is what needs to get recreated. The rest of the dance is just to get RB to use our new .ini file when it creates the .bin file. The .bin file is what RB actually uses 'under the hood'.
Our Patches.ini gets compiled into Patches.bin which Realband then uses for the patch list.
The .ini file is simply a text tool that allows us to manipulate what gets into the newly built .bin file. That is why the formatting of the .ini file is so important; it gets used to assemble a binary file used inside the program. Much like a .dll file in that it is a compiled binary 'helper' file used inside the application.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
