Hey I'm jealous
I couldn't write a tune & couldn't sing it if I did.

My kind of stuff. Has enough country and rock blended together for my taste. Great job on this. This is one talent I don't have when it comes to music. Not much of a song writer. But I'm a good song listener.

Great song, well sung, played and produced!
Only one small nitpicking thing that caught my ears: the very first vocal line. That one starts off verry muddy and growling. The second line stands out clear and strong, almost like another vocalist is singing. This happens slightly on some other points, but the first one is just too obvious. I think in this case it has something to do with it being the start of the song and your voice wasn't up to those low tones yet. Making several "dry" runs before recording (or in my case: take some runs and record them too) will help make your voice warm up for the task at hand.

Verry well written sung. Great vocals and performance. A definat keeper!

Thanks again fellers... much appreciated.

Regarding the singing Mike, of the first line. Here's a test for you.... can you tell me what the lyric was of the first line? Without listening again... no cheating! Nothing I try to relate in my music and interpretation of lyric is there by chance. I see by your signature you're a singer so you might get this. I have not heard you sing so as far as I know you are a singer, though from my experience most people who have great voices call themselves singers instead of vocalists. (Yes I do have a point.)

One thing I learned after losing my voice to cancer surgery was that the actual voice has very little to do with being an effective, or even a great singer. Interpretation and expression of the lyric makes the singer, not the voice. This is just my personal observation coming from the view biased by songwriting also.... Here's my point - The lyric at the first line is ..... He wakes up, every mornin' - I was honestly trying to express that line. You may also notice that the "he gets up" line also has some odd inflection.

Although I may not have pulled of the song vocally technically - I do think I expressed the lyric well.

Thanks for mentioning this Mike - it's something I've been wanting to try to put in writing for a while but never had the time. Does it even make sense?

Don't be concerned with it, Pops.

And you expressed it well. I understand, anyway.

There are singers who technically get everything correct and then there are the singers who tell a story with each rendition. The former are a dime a dozen, the latter are remembered.

It wasn´t ment as negative as you might have read it. It was, like I mentioned in my post, a nitpicking thing, but a positive ment constructive critique. I understand perfectly what you say. You want to tell the story the way you ment it when you wrote it. But sometimes it doesn´t get there the way you thought it would. In this case (just mho) the first line didn't come through: I could not get it 'till the third time I listened.
Nothing negative: just trying to help....

As for using the word vocalist: If it makes things better: I call myself a zanger (Dutch for singer )

You can find my music on my website if you want.

I’d been looking forward to listening to this track so much having seen all the positive comments on my soundcardless PC at work.

Where do you start ?

This has everything – fine melody, tight structure, just enough happening in the instrumentation…

A voice which carries both the tune and a heap of expression.

Congrats to you, Poppa plus all of those who played on it.
